When I haul them I chain front and the back one strap over if the cage allows it they only weigh 7400# These are what I call ISO containers or tanks. Sometimes the cage around them will not allow you to throw a straps over. Hope this helps and remember the rating on the chain and binder makes a big difference.

Next time you get a chance pick up your d.o.t hand book and read 393.126 thru 393.128 it tells you how they want ot done and there is a big difference between loaded and empty ones hope this helps. And thanks for the refresher lol I don't want to give any of my money away on the side of the road
SHC and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
@Revelation I quoted standard regs for securement. In your area, they may not be up to date on the regs or just a bit lax. On the west coast they are extremely tough about the regs for securement. On the cans, if you come out here, better have it set up like I said or you will find yourself at a chicken coop getting a ticket. SHC's setup for the two 20 ft cans is what I would have done also and it would have passed here.
If you have a loaded can, better have enough securement to cover the weight. For example, when I haul a 46000 lb 20ft can, I use 2 chains and 5 straps plus since it has weight I put some wood v-boards underneath to help spread out the weight.SHC Thanks this. -
Well after all is said and done I will pocket about $600 after my fuel costs for this run. I should have made well over $900 but I avg'd 4.2 mpg with these empty cans and a 40-50 mph headwind, sidewind, headwind.....didn't know which way it wanted to blow LOL
