I have just read this entire thread in the last two days. My husband is out on his second week with his trainer. We lucked out big time that his trainer lives in our town. The kids and I drive him to the trainers truck on Sundays and we picked him up on Friday.

We just adopted two kids (one in December and the other in July) and then just took in my three nieces. Many people think I am crazy for taking in the kids while my husband is OTR. I understand that things may get trying but he is supporting our family.

I love reading these posts because it helps give me an idea of what he does while on the road.

Best of luck to you and your family Blind Dog! My husband put in 18 months with them before he got his local gig. His terminology was he wanted his life back and did not want to be a stranger "visiting" his own home. Enjoyed following your story and hope you let us know how it goes. Take pictures of inside and outside of truck and make sure you get couple signatures on equipment count when you turn your truck in. Also download and hard copy snapshots- helped get new job when they drug their feet on driving appraisal for new co. They can take 30 days if they want to and did. Snapshot safety points got him driving in a week instead of 4.

Well, I submitted my notice. I asked for a load heading south, so I could swing by my house and empty out truck. I told them I would be more than happy to take truck to Gaston terminal. They immediately stopped caring about me, and had forgotten all that they had put me thru. They want me to take a load to Indy terminal and how I get home from there is "my problem."
Remember, I came this close to quitting on friday while I was close to my house. Now Im hundreds of miles from home, and they want to toss me out like a piece of trash. Really? Really? Thats how your going to treat me? Why? Because I said I dont wanna work here anymore? Really?? Now Im sure Ive made the right choice to quit. You dont EVER treat people like that. EVER!!! So, now Im far, far from home. Its up to me to find a way home. Do you really think Im gonna have something good to say about TMC now?

blind i've supported u all the way when i started reading ur thread here; u have paid ur dues to our country & that u are commended for & i thank u; but, u have dues to pay with any career choice u make. u think because ur the new guy & u served our great country that u should be catered to in trucking? WRONG!!! my dad is a viet nam vet & i learned alot from him. i don't live like a caged animal, i shower daily, & eat healthy meals. it's sad that ur company is treating u like such while others are doing ok. u have fought for ur hometime & i applaud u but u will have dues to pay no matter what. u have been driving less than a year, u don't know how trucking operates yet. but since u want to give up, go ahead. i understand tmc says 46 out of 52 w/e's @ home, & ur wife has to do everything by herself while ur gone, but there are always other companies out there who can get u home on weekends like u are wanting (i can name a few). blind i'm not against u as my post may seem, all i'm saying give it time, it's not going to happen overnight.

also, ur company has u several hundred miles away for u to get home, that is typical, u should have quit when u were closer to home. they do that all the time (all companies do). also check ur dac when u do leave, they could blackball u, & if they do it will make it hard getting another driving job (local, regional, etc). just sayin

I dunno. 1st thing is get to Indy, then find a way home from there. Ya know, I never shoulda taken the "high road" with these people. As for the trucking industry itself, as I stated before, I am not willing to be treated this way to "pay dues." Also, my wife is juzt that, she is MY WIFE!! Its not fair to her fo live this way either. Im not starting anything with anybody here. Im just saying NOT ME!!!
