This made me laugh as the companys can come up with new angles on this...in Feb. Greatwide offered drivers "voluntary dispatch" which is you agree and sign up for it once a month, take the load they offer each day with 10% of that weeks loads guaranteed in a direction you have given as your criteria and they say you will make more money than the ones on the board, plus you get weekly scheduled days off picked by management unless they need you to work...sounded good enough a lot of drivers snapped it up. I have refused since to me this is just a glorified company driver without any of the benefits as in medical paid, vacation etc. and all of the outlay of expenses etc. That is why I have decided as some of the others who refused to go "voluntary dispatch" to take leave of this company.

Hopefully next week I will be at my orientation for Landstar :) And yes I will be required to use EOBR but I had adjusted to it being at Greatwide and definately feel it does have it's advantages and while I definately don't like all the government hands on everything I am not going to not go to Landstar because they are requiring me to use it. I guess if the government told me I had to be video cammed for the 14 hours and then the 10 so they could make sure I was sleeping then I would say being a driver was no longer an option for me, but for logging it isn't a deal breaker.

I guess no one else on this board see's it. But that's what it is coming down too. We are gonna be required to video ourselves at all times. These EOBR's should be a deal breaker. Your an owner op. not a company driver. If owner ops wanna run an EOBR because they can't add and subtract well that's fine. But it's by CHOICE. Now the brokers are gonna force it??!! Puhlease. Landstar can stick their cheap ### freight right up their you know what. With what it costs these days for a trailer and authority there is no reason anyone should feel the need to HAVE to lease on. If ya wanna be an owner op then be one!!! Get the horse and the buggy. Not just half. Show these idiots who owns the truck. It's you making the payment not them.

I have no problem if they want video, as long as the video it is taking is forward facing out of the cab watching the traffic. It is going to come up broken quite frequently if it is taking video of me. Or, I could do to it what I did to a security camera when I worked for the Air Force as a civilian... I put a picture of the Playmate of the Month in front of the lens and left it there.

I hate to say this but a Lease Owner with our company (in the lease purchase program) was going 70mph in a 70mph zone and a 4-wheeler called the 1-800-hows-my-driving number and said he was going to fast and he was weaving in and out of the lanes. Our company said they will either lower his truck to be governed at 65 instead of 70 or put a Camera in his truck (the one that faces both the driver and the road)

That was the main thing that turned me away form leasing to our company. If you can't even go the speed limit then thats preposterous

How can you get in trouble for going "70" in a "70".....Was it snowing?

Besides that....4-Wheelers who do get passed by trucks lie.......

    I tell you...They all LIE!!!!!!!

    I believe you 100%

it wasn't snowing, this was just two weeks ago. He decided to turn his truck in and go to DART.

When I plan on going o/o I do plan on buying my OWN trailer. I don't drive like a jack wagon and i know for a fact 4-wheelers lie when you pass them or if you turn on your blinker to merge in front of them and they speed up and then they think you cut them off. So the reason I'd want my own trailer is because i wont have one of those stickers on the back of my flat. People can scream safety all they want, but it doesn't stop dishonest people from calling in either as a joke or just to be an ###

    Edit:
Oh i forgot to mention, even though he's an o/o, roehl's policy is basically going about 5 under the speed limit when the limit is that high for safety reasons. He had a volvo with a dry van and he said he still makes money driving 70 so he figured he would just go the speed limit.

Simple with the 1800 number. Strip it. Problem solved.

greased lightning works well once you get a piece of it peeled back. I always use that to remove bumper stickers from my car awhile back..

It boils down to this. The individual driver runs illeagle. Start running leagle 24/7 it's not as hard as one thinks. It may hit your pocket as far as the paycheck goes. In my opinoion if everyone ran leagle 24/7 in a short amount of time it would change things. If you run out of hours at the shipper/reciever call the state police and ask for guidance in the situation, or your company. Either way put it back on them." I want to stay compliant officer, but the shipper is kicking me off the proberty and I have no hours to drive what do I do?" IT IS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL TO STAND UP FOR HIS/HER RIGHTS!!
