Company mechanics are in your truck all the time. By the time you get it out and loaded you might be able to shoot the robber in the back as he runs away.
Close the curtains, lock the doors and don't answer it no matter how bad you want to see that lot lizard!
Know your surroundings and don't park isolated somewhere and you'll never have problems.

If you want to carry a weapon while driving a truck I suggest http://www.goarmy.com/locate-a-recruiter.html.
Way too many shippers and receivers (ports, airports, military bases, and private companies) ban then from their property. Your carry permit does not override their right to deny fire arms on their property.

As company driver its a big no. Carry mace if u want something

Lots of drivers carry guns in their trucks and I have absolutely no problem with it. My theory is judged by 12 before carried by 6.
volvodriver01, brsims and Projektf350 Thank this. -
Has nothing to do with judged by 12 or however you want to dramatize it.
Put your coat on, go to the range on a winter day and the TRY to draw your weapon in a fashion that it would do you any good. You'd be surprised.
And people want to play gunslinger yet fail to practice how they carry in a realistic manner.
You are only as good as you practice/train.
And it's been my experience, most people don't do either. They go to a range, they set up and attempt to use proper range "etiquette" and then they call it good.
And it did them ZERO good.
I have yet to have someone attend a class that knew what the heck they were doing and their eyes were opened to realize that maybe having a gun concealed isn't such a good idea and there is rather a lot of merit to my statement it takes at LEAST 70-80 hours of ADEQUATE training before a person is competent enough to use one.
And then there is the laws for using deadly force in a defensive situation that you are forced to contend with.
And you can step on your soap box all you want about 12 and 6 and become all melodramatic you want.
The reality is, HAVE YOU REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING? and considered ALL your options and what you can REALLY do?LaBubba, Bayle and Pumpkin Oval Head Thank this. -
Sarcasm aside I agree with your statement.

And I thought this thread wold be about the new bacon condoms
Mattchu, tirednaz, sleep7 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have, and I have trained for all situations. Since all the local "public" gun ranges in my area are run by hunters and hunting clubs, I've built my own range at home (nice thing about living out in the country), and train with both my open carry and concealed carry holsters every weekend. Even if I can't shoot due to ammo shortages, I still practice dry fire drills.
As far as training, I'll stick with my current group instead of a "formal" class. I'd rather get my training from combat veterans who have actually had to use their guns to protect their lives than some guy who has never used his gun off a range, thanks.
My gun is at my side for one purpose and one purpose alone. That is to defend my life and the lives of my family. I don't do touchy-feely liberal BS about it, I carry a gun just in case (and I hope it never happens) I have to shoot someone to protect me and mine. And if I do have to shoot, I guarantee I will go for a fatal. Two to the chest, a follow up to the head.
And I would like to point out that I shoot more ammunition in a day's worth of training than most police admit to shooting in a year....chances are I'm probably better at it than they are. -
It's not sarcasm.
It's learned experience of being a firearms instructor for over 18 years and a state permit to carry instructor for 8.
I get so tired of the judged by 12 argument. Most get such an awakening taking a class with me some never realized the position they were really putting themselves into.
Anyone can have a gun. It's an entirely different level to comprehend what it really means, legally, socially, physiologically and all.
And then you take them to a range and put them in a REAL world situation and suddenly it slaps them in the face that they are not really ready for a gun in a defensive situation.
The link I provided to Mythbusters I used only because it's only HALF true. Most of the people in my classes have a struggle to get a shot off in 50 feet on a tueller drill.
Then you explain the ramifications of what that LEGALLY means. Go ahead and try the judgement of 12 argument in court. It will hang you for murder.
So save the melodramatic speech on me. I'd rather give someone the TRUTH of what will happen to them in a society that frowns on a person taking their own protection serious. There are other things you can use/do for protection. And most seem to think they either have to have a gun or they are unprotected.
A gun is only ONE tool.
The best tool is to educate yourself in many different ways using common everyday items you have around you at any one given moment.
The ultimate tool is your mind. -
Please read forum "Trucking Industry Regulations" on my docked thread of "Carring Firearms In A Truck" and you'll see many different views from all kinds of drivers. After you check you'll most likely agree it's not worth the hassle. It is however a hot subject when it comes to your rights.
