JohnBoy sorry for loss, but one thing I learned reading this thread is your positive attitude, no matter the situation. I think that's why you have been successful in life, I know you will get through this too.

First off, I want to thank all of you for the heartfelt words, especially my little brother Chris(The Rookie). He may not work here anymore, but you can never end a true friendship just because you moved on to better things. I want to say that even though things have changed here at Calex, there are still some people here that really give a ####. When we got the news on Friday evening about the passing of my wife's uncle I took a few minutes to figure out what was to be done. My wife being Jewish puts a little strain on the logistics of the funeral. Couple that with the funeral being in NY I had to make a work decision that only comes with a funeral. I called the after hours emergency number 20 minutes after we got the news and got Eddie on the phone, the same Eddie whose been here for 25 years and has been coming to work at 4am every day during that time. I told him the deal and said I wouldn't be able to reload Monday, and that my wife and I had to fly to NY for the funeral. This also is going to make me miss my dedicated run on Wednesday. We are flying out on Wednesday morning early for the funeral, my wife will be staying a few days and I am flying back home Wednesday night. Eddie told me in no uncertain terms that there is 2 things that is a constant at Calex, safety and family, and that I needed to take care of my family, the freight will be taken care of by them, I need to take care of my wife. Eddie is and has been such a delight to work with. What a stand up guy!

Right now there is only 3 people here at Calex that I truly think the world of, Louie, Jason and Eddie. Things change in life, but there is certain relationships that will never end. Whatever my future holds, these three will always be in my thoughts.

I would add Brian, and even though he's retired, Mort, both in safety, to that list. Both of them have treated me with the utmost respect, and were always accessible and personable whenever I was in the office.

It's too bad things played out with me the way they did, both with not being allowed to transfer to the regional board and the issue with the shop. I absolutely hated the local short hauls and the stress that was involved in them, and not being allowed to transfer left a bitter taste in my mouth. The shop deal was the "straw that broke the camels back".

Thanks brother, I am looking forward to the Heat/Spurs game tonight. It will be the first game I watched all season. I hope you and Les have had a peaceful Easter. God Bless and again many thanks.

This all sounds well and good Christine but what do you think John, myself and others have been doing. If their profit margain is so tight that they cannot or will not give deserving drivers a raise then they are in bigger trouble than I thought. Drive 62 miles an hour all you want and let us know in 6 months what that gets you. If a token raise of a penny or two will break the bank then so be it. The reasons that I left had nothing to do with cpms but other issues that went constantly unresolved. A 4 year employee such as John with a spotless record and on time deliveries should not never have to ask for a raise it should be automatic. Unless of course the company just does not care.

    Hello all, new member here,
So it's looking like I'll be signing on this week with Calex for that lease purchase program.
    Any advice?
From what I've seen so far, it seems like a good deal.
