I think the Phase 3 fleet-specific stuff depends a bit on what division and region you're running. For example, I'd been told while out with my trainer that having a Phase 3-specific FM is unique to van division. In flatbed I've had my permanent FMs since day one. (They run in a 7/7 rotation themselves, Weds-Tues.) They said on my first day that Phase 3 ends whenever I feel comfortable with the routines and want to start running 7/7; it's largely up to me and they're flexible about it.

Well, I am assigned to a "Developmental Fleet Mgr" based in Gary, IN, but the Load Planners are supposed to try to keep me within a reasonable distance of the typical Texas Regional Fleet and have with the exception of a couple of runs to St. Louis and one to Memphis. When my Phase 3 ends, I will be assigned to a regular Texas Regional Fleet Manager based in the Grand Prairie (Dallas) Terminal.

As I understand it, Developmental Fleet Mgrs. work with far fewer drivers than the regular Fleet Mgrs and, consequently, have more time to communicate with their drivers and give guidance, etc. My current Fleet Mgr has been very responsive to my phone calls, emails, etc. As far as I know, that's the primary distinction between Phase 3 and the rest of the company drivers.

Of course, during my Phase 2 time with a Trainer, we were in the National Fleet and ran as far North as Rockport, IL/Chicago and as far South as Houston and East to Jacksonville, FL.

They told me something similar as well. So I'm done with III after this trip out. It will be exactly 90 days since we started in Marshfield.

Just talked to a driver that tore the front bumper off his '12 Prostar & then turned too short and crinkled the fairing on the sleeper in his first ten months. It's a little harder to blame that on the 662,000 miles and ten previous drivers than my clutch. Yikes

I know her. I worked with her a few times. She is a real nice lady and a good FM.

got a call today for my load assignment tommorow as I head back out. Reviewed my work thus far and was informed that I will be handed off to the mainstream FM soon. Feeling pretty good about knowing the ins and out enough to get the job done. I have no problem with the work or being away from home. Might still not be speedy gonzalez but I do put in a full day every day. It's been a good experience at Roehl so far. Really happy that the other members of our RDTC class, specifically OSU, Techno and Irish, have been successful.

Kutina, The OSU and technoroom Thank this.
