Questions about Roehl?????

Depends a lot on your FM, freight where you are, and hours you have left on your 70. I typically have a preplan everytime, but have have sat up to 3 or 4 hours on rare occasions.

 

Glad to see comments like this. I just applied and am hoping to go through their school as well.

 

What are we talking about for the pretrip test? 118 point Arkansas DMV test our a "you know what you're doing" test?

 

Pretty much same pretrip that is given at state licensing tests. Get to use cheat sheet though, unless its changed.

 

In my opinion, its a "do you know what your doing" test. Or for the simple minded, you passed your CDL test, can you identify a few parts and what you would look at on the road. Common sense test! If you fail it, you shouldn't have a CDL. Road test is a little different, but basically drive speed limit, don't run over curbs or yellow lines, and Don't kill anyone. Sounds easy right? And people still FAIL!

 

From people I've talked to who failed the Roehl road test the first time, it was because they couldn't complete the backing exercise. When getting your CDL (at least in Wisconsin when we were at RDTC) you could completely fail the backing part of the road test (6 points) and still pass the overall road test (25 points allowed) if you didn't make too many mistakes elsewhere. In the Roehl test-out, they really want you to be able to complete the backing exercise as well. (As they should, because if you can't back into a dock or slot at a truck stop you're really not going to enjoy your time as a driver....)

 

Well its been real but I will be switching to another company at the end of May. Mainly because I need to get home more to help out my wife, but I have to say I have had too many weeks with only sub $400 paychecks. I would still say Roehl is a good company to work for, they have treated me well! But I have had enough conversations trying to work out getting my miles up to no avail. Good luck to everyone, I am sure I am the exception to this mileage/pay issue.

 

Can anyone tell me what starting pay is at roehl for a newby

 

.30 cents per dispatched mile, both empty and loaded
