Why do we let them get away with it? And why doesn't the government protect drivers

So we need to "Blame The Market Place"?

If there are say 1000 new trucking jobs in an area and 100,000 apply....The wages won't be what Bill Gates makes annually.....That's "Supply and Demand" at work...Not the "Evil Intentions of the Trucking Companies"....


Not only that...Trucking is not a typical job....It is not a "9-5" job....Many live in the truck....It's a lifestyle.....One has to be able live in 280-350 square feet of cab/sleeper....

Trucking does not require even a high school education....

So why not take a look at it from the employer's perceptive if not, an economist's perspective....



And again....Nobody forces anyone to take a job....Any job to include, working for those "Mega's" you all like to whine about....

 

It sounds to me, that your first flatbed job was halfway decent, why did you leave?

Im not a company driver but if I were,I'd expect to be paid for any and all I do...if its under the heading of "it's your job" then you should get paid...

Here we go, on and on... more division and quickness to disagree.
Do you think that, in this day and age, with unions less than 7% of the total workforce, the trucking industry has a shot at becoming organized? With all the anti-union hype going on, I think that it's unlikely; hence the only step left is leaving altogether. Only then might a collective bargaining agreement be possible, along with becoming organized.
That being said,many of us don't realize the true benefits of belonging to a union; in fact, collective bargaining is the only chance a worker has at having anything at all, including higher pay.
Of course, this would mean less profits for the company investors and CEO's; who do you think is behind all the anti-union propaganda?
No wonder the companies are so terrified of unions.

Drivers are exempt from the FLSA of '33.....sorry.

But I do get paid. i get cpm drivers knew what they would be doing before they started.. so why complain about not getting paid good. I take pride and love in what I do.. I'm happy with what I make a week cuz I don't over live what I make. I won't get a credit car I won't lease a car.. so I think I do good. I don't mind fueling/ pti or waiting( most is 6 hours)

 

No disrespect ..but if the CFO's sees this post,they'd probably give you a raise,this is the mindset they want to remain in this industry. I've got a funny feeling that with the. new educated generation,there will be a fire brewing. They will run the numbers and not except low wages,or stagnant wages.
Why should the top players be the only ones who progress in life? Everyone has the right.
