Winters coming. Advice?

and speaking of chaining, chain BEFORE you get stuck, or your be cursing yourself later, a lot easier to get your chains on when the truck can still move. as well as safer.

 

We all learn the hard way,right. Been stuck in a mud hole hauling logs before. Use bungy chords/rubber snubbers after you throw the Iron and hook them to the side rails. Spin tires a little and they will pull your chains together,then hook'm up. I always found gassing on the truck made it spin so I just ease into the hammer. But whatever works for a guy. Looking forward to this Winter?

chaining in the mud sucks!!! id rather chain in -40 and blowing snow than chain in 75* weather in the mud.

 

Yeah huh.^ Learned a long time ago to chain BEFORE you leave a main haul road not after you've powered out on a spur road and mud is dripping down off the tires of your decked trailer. Have a ball in N.D. this Winter.

 

If your semi takes passenger vehicle attachment wiper blades, take a look at the new trico ice beam winter wipers. They do a much better job than the old school winter wipers that work better for snow/ice but stink for rain. The trico ice are excellent for both.

 

Any "war stories" out there from anyone that was caught up in "Atlas" in South Dakota? I've learned that the weather service gives winter storms names, just like they do with hurricanes and tropical depressions. Atlas was the first major winter storm.

 

My advice: park the truck, buy a Speedo and head to Key West!
