Yeah... that's in Milford, CT--name of truck stop is Secondi's. I liked it, but I'm weird.

The truckers' bars seem to be fewer and farther these days but I can see why and understand.

Isn't that the one that "shares" a lot with the Pilot in Milford? I've been in that vicinty before. Both places were constantly busy, then again, they are handling a lot of truck traffic between NYC and Boston.

They didn't really share a lot... the Pilot was on the left, across the street from Secondi's on the right. As you say, there is a lot of truck traffic and truck stops in the east are few and far between. Only 4-5 in the whole state of Connecticut and fewer than that in Massachusetts. In fact, in Mass. there are no TA's, Petros or Flying J's and only 1 Pilot at exit 1 off I-84. Just a few small mom and pop independents.

Flynn's is where I go grab an empty scale for one of our regular Massachusetts pick ups.

I've been to Flynn's a bunch... used to haul 44,000 lbs. of chocolate (at 110°F) in a tanker from the Archer Daniel Midland plant in Mansfield, MA to Hebert's Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury--I had to scale full and then empty after delivery at Flynn's. When tank was almost empty I had to get up on top of the tank (12" catwalk) with a 13' long aluminum squeege and push the liquid chocolate out the rear end of the tank. When done, after 2-3 hours of shoving, there would still be 150-175 lbs. of chocolate coating the walls that just wouldn't come out. The load paid awesome $$$, about $25 a mile, but it was insane hard work--something you normally don't associate with being a tanker yanker. I could take an empty large Dunkin' Donuts cup and fill it up scraping chocolate off the inside of one of the 3 dome lids... NOT a good thing having access to all the free chocolate you can eat!

That was the truck wash run by the perv that was arrested for child molestation of his step son--"Mr. Clean Truck Wash, channel 2-2... the real deal!"

the real deal in Memphis is a guy selling drugs, nothing to do with a truck wash.

Maybe things have changed... but channel 22 WAS the channel the Mr. Clean Truck Wash used to advertise on. I haven't been in Memphis in a coon's age so, AGAIN, maybe things have changed. The way things come an go the truck wash may have gone out of business years ago--if so I stand corrected. At least the drivers above got answers to their questions--it's all good.

Anybody been to the Pilot in Denver off I-70? I've been there twice and it seems pretty good. I was able to pull in and out with no problems and the satellite for my TV had great reception. they even had a section for bobtails. The security patrolled there frequently and I was only approached by somebody whose "truck broke down a couple blocks away" and by somebody trying to unload their DVD collection but no lot lizards.
