How about which brand of truck to buy right out of the gate to get rich quick, while pulling containers and home every day, no weekends.

Thanks but do you think buying a truck right out of school is a good idea?

Ask about assessorial pays.
He's joking with you about buying a truck.TomOfTx Thanks this. -
I think he was kidding. Your new to the forum. Those are questions asked all time, should I buy truck out of school? Which brand? Etc
-
He was being sarcastic. Too many newbies get into trucking and think its so easy to run their own rig and then find out there's more to it than just driving from point a to b.

Read this forum and search for older threads...so many questions will come to your mind you may just work at McDonalds...and be glad you are. Read.Read.Read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I was only kidding ...
Just go drive for one of the larger companies, try to choose one that has running areas through where you live so you have a chance at managing your home time. Just enjoy the scenery you will see for your first year or two, then, as long as you don't have tickets or accidents, you can move to a higher paying company. The smaller but higher paying companies aren't likely to hire you due to higher insurance premiums for new drivers. Don't just choose the company that pays 1 or 2 cents per mile more than the others. Ask the drivers if possible, how many miles they are averaging per week/month/year, see if they are generally happy working there. Most drivers will give you a fairly straight shot as to how a company operates. But no, do not even think about owning or leasing or signing on any dotted lines when it comes to who will own the truck. Drive theirs, they will pay for the fuel, the repairs, the maintenance, and you will collect your check. If they try to coerce you into anything that even sounds like "lease" then turn and RUN away, do not look back, they are paid to get you to sign one of those contracts that is designed for you to fail while the company gets richer. There are some people that make it, but they are few and far between.navywill Thanks this. -
A faded yellow ex-Penske Freighliner Columbia with white steel rims and a crumpled up cab-fairing on the drivers side. Bungee cords and/or duct tape holding on the mirror is a bonus, but not necessary.
