When I have traffic and weather on it stops tracking my location. However if you make it do something like go to the main menu then back to the map it catches up for a few minutes and stops again. As soon as I turn off the wifi it works fine. Just makes the traffic a waste of 20 bucks and weather useless.

Update should fix the issue of connecting to Weather and unit locking up.

I have to research more on the address importing.

    Thanks,
    mark

An update should have just come out to resolve this. Try to update and let me know the version once you update.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Quick question that probably has been asked before:
Do all models use the same map database, or newer versions use more recently updated maps. In other words, does it matter if I use 720 or 730 when it comes to how recently the database of road properties (restricted, construction, new speed limit, etc.) has been updated.
Or do all rand mcnally models use the same roads database and have different screen sizes and options; therefore different prices?
    Thanks!

    530/730 has the latest maps

520/720 a mapset is in the works to be released that is the same as the 530/730 - no release date on this. As noted and I am speaking in general terms here. I cannot go into details on the map holdup. Some things have changed with the software for the 530/730 that uses the new maps. Some business decisions have to be made at the VP and CEO level as to how the maps will be handled for the 520/720 along with the new software.

Construction and POI's are separate and usually updated quarterly and updated via the Dock.

RM has started to incorporate a new file that will address speed and restrictions. This will be pushed via the Dock quarterly.

The 530/730 hardware wise are about 3-4 times faster in processing.

Some features that are on the 530/730 will not be passed to the 520/720 in the next update along with the Maps. This is a business decision.

As with anything the newest always has the latest bells and whistles.

    Thanks,
    Mark

But the 720 will get updated maps right? Otherwise that lifetime map update was a load of crap

Lifetime maps means for the Life of the unit to be determined by the company. Usually electronics has a "life" of 3-4 years for companies.

Yes they will. I don't want to be "nailed" to the wall again about the maps for the 520/720, but no public release info is available yet.

I know the reasons since I test the software, but I am covered by an NDA. I am just not high enough up the food chain to make the decision that needs to be make.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Fair enough. Will you announce the mapset update for 520/720 on your website or in this forum, so we know when to update the maps? How often should I dock my 720 for updates anyway?

I will try, but most times you know before I do. I don't use the Dock often as I have to manually move files.

Monthly on the updates are fine.

    Thanks,
    Mark
