Lol no it IS something to be proud of un less you're a millionaire and never need a loan in your life. It measures your willingness and ability to repay debt you made. Making debt is a part of life unless you are rich enough to buy houses and vehicles with cash.

And don't freeze your reports if you are looking to get a loan. You will be required to unfreeze them before applying and that takes a minute.

Just don't give out your social security number to any and everyone. Also, applying for loans with your bank or credit bureau is far better than a dealership. Dealerships tend to "search and scan" several lenders trying to find a good rate or approval. This could mean you would end up with several hard pulls lowering your score. Could lower it drastically.

I guess that depends, Im proud of my excellent credit and it doesnt mean its costing you money. I put at least $1200-1500 a month on my credit card, every bill I can(adt, electric,xm,all truck bills, etc, etc) I get back 1.5% cash on every bit spent and i pay the bill in full every month, so its saving me money :p

Mr Cona, 7th grade teacher always would say "tanstafall !!! Tanstafall!!" all the time

    (T)here (a)int no such thing as a free lunch...tanstaafl

In my experiences, the math didnt work out over long time with the rewards being an illusion pleasing the inner cortex's "I won I won" center, not really upgraphing there...With per transaction rates and fee's and stuff I was loosing a couple grand a year...

Ya, credit has its place...another term would be voluntary loansharking...LOL

If your paying your stuff off every month, congrats, you have a debit card...LOL..If you want to maximize, then dont pay it all off, let some ride a month!! Your score will hit the roof..Your ##### footin and could have a much higher score!!

Conversation doesnt fit my agenda if were only talking a less than 30 day front!! Dang it

Its like saying, "hey can i borrow 4 dollars for a sandwhich, I'll pay you back 4 dollars and 10 cents in 2 hours.." and guess what? as a vip member were gonna thro in the cheese for free!!! Yay!!

    Keep the pennies!!!

    I don't getcha.

I pay everything through chase and pay it it full every month. I earned over $450 which I put toward vacation utilizing their 3% Cashback on purchases and I didn't pay a cent of interest all year. Plus no yearly fee.

    Hmmmm...If so, great!!

My money says there gettin ya somewhere, they dont just handle all your e-transacting for free, and actually give you a few hundred more, just for letting them do this work for you for free..Theres no logic or buisness model in place there

Dont get me wrong, Im sure it looks and is as you say, but still, somewhere...somewhere somehow, there profiting 100 billion a year, none of it comes from you?

Actually they do make money. Just not off me. Off the transaction itself. Every card swipe they get a fee from the store or the company who distributes the credit card machines.

Well you must not understand how it works then.. All my cards are no annual fee and no transaction charges whatsoever.. I get everything with a 1.5% discount as long as i pay the balance in full. You do know that credit card companies charge the vendor 3-5% as a service charge so they are still making money even if they give you and little bit fo that back.
