For all intents and purposes--yes.
To get really technical, you could have a 14-hour day if you stopped driving at the 8-hour mark and then were on-duty for another 6 hours. Obviously that is not a "normal" day.

Ok,I guess I better start logging a break. I had only been doing it if I needed to split up more than 8 hours consecutive on line 3. I guess sometimes I've logged line 1 while waiting at a shipper or receiver, maybe that's why the people who audit our logs haven't said anything. I've also not had anything said during an inspection. Like last week though I never logged one during my day at all. Thanks for the info.

Go back and re-read the OP's original post at the very beginning of this thread. She said, she was cited for $12,000 for one driver that did not log the break 3 times. If you got through with a roadside inspection and didn't get caught not taking the break, consider yourself extremely lucky.

When the law passed one of our drivers marked all of his 30 min breaks on duty and one trip he even put a co driver there that never existed we got audited he racked up around 100pts by him self wnd still only paid around 500$ or so. Might wanna get that checked out .

Your first mistake is admitting anything and taking responsibility for anything. The way you deal with administrative law is it's always their fault and you never agree with them on anything.
I would read the assessment carefully as you only have so many days to apply for administrative review and then they have you. I drug out an IFTA/IRP assessment for nearly two years and it was only 159.00, would've kept dragging it out except I enrolled in college last Dec. and figured time would be better spent studying.
I posted this a few years ago when CSA started up it was a bad thing and got shouted down by all the moron drivers telling how great and safe we'd all be. Only thing I seen was lots of small carriers get put out of business
when they couldn't get loads due to the inflated CSA crap that meant nothing. You could have a high score and
be a good safe carrier with the methodology they used.
Once E-logs are in full effect they already have new violations to take the rest of your money.
Only thing they will ever understand is when trucks don't move and all daily needs dwindle and that will never happen because there is very few men left in this business anymore, mostly feminized wanna be men
is what's here mostly now. I remember well the last real truckers strike it was a great thing only downside was that no one with vision was in charge of it that's why we're where we are now. Truck driving is no longer a long term carreer move just a temporary filler till a real job comes.spax and sourdiesel Thank this.
