You know I've got both of them and have to say for a few times trying to tune a cb antenna for someone who don't get what SWR means, they can be intimidating.

This morning I was reading about testing coax to determine losses and condition but in truth, you can't with an antenna analyser.

In the ADVANCED mode, the MFJ259B measures distance to fault. Not sure if the cheap ones do as well.
I've never used that function before

That's a TDR which is software driven and pretty OK, but if you understand how to properly test coax for degradation, a TDR and even a loaded coax with a Antenna Analyser won't work. I find it odd that hams have been using an AA for testing and checking losses but it isn't accurate.

I have something similar which suits my needs to a point. it is simple to operate for basic checking then getting into other things, it really isn't needed for cb band.

I think my point is a simple device is best, if a good meter is found to be accurate, then a meter is easy to use.

I have watched a bunch of videos on checking coax, continuity is a given and many make a big deal about using an ohm meter to find shorts but here is a very good way to check coax -

What is your opinion of the sark analyzers? I've read mixed reviews online. Do they seem to be accurate? Most of the negative Ive seen, mostly refers to the build quality being poor.
For one like myself, an analyzer would sit on the bench most of the time, which makes it hard to pull the trigger on a more expensive model (I was actually looking at the rig expert AA30) but for $100 bucks, and if it works like it should, I wouldnt feel near as bad about it lol.
Would you recomend buying the sark, or throwing in the extra $ for a more expensive model?
