What do you mean, "What if they don't take my insurance"
That's Not any of their business...As in If it's an option for them, Never heard of that.

over 350 customer/3pl's I have on file, not 1 has ever questioned my Insurance,,,,. I'll question Their Trust funds and Bonding companies Before they can be arbitrary to question me

Get loaded will let you. Not a lot of loads on there but enough that you will get an idea about what the lanes are paying. They also have a lot of nice features. I signed up with them about four years before i got authority. Only one i know that will let you do that

Ya I'll call DAT monday and see if there's anything they can do for me. When I can get authority is just up to how much in business reserves I decide I feel comfortable with when I make the leap, and what I decide to do on the trailer. I could really push this and make it happen in 3-4 months if needed. I'd like to do reefer and I'm poking around looking at trailers right now. The cost difference between new and 3-4yrs old is about 30k so it could effect the time frame vastly. So I'm just trying to get an idea of whether its the right decision right now by getting an idea of some rates in the lanes I like to run. Rollin aside from the cost of the trailer what would you suggest as a rough amount in start up capitol, for a guy with a 2yr tractor, paid for, who lives on the road and no mortgage or vehicle payments?

Thanks I tried to check that one out, but I'll have to update my browser before I can. It looks like they are an affiliate of DAT?

Well, after you get all of your startup costs out of the way I think it would be crazy to not have at least $10,000 minimum. I don't consider myself fully covered for any eventuality until I have $25,000 stashed for the truck alone. Some guys say that you can do it with a shoestring and credit card. Between the two I will show you an example of one who will have the best shot at figuring out lanes and when to command rates and one who will largely be taken advantage of at nearly every turn. Don't even try it without at least $10,000 but seriously I think it needs to be more.

    Well said Coal..........

I was actually 1 of those guys many moons ago, Luck,Quick Learner and a strong discipline to 'save' my earnings has brought a pretty successful Life my direction....

I bought my first truck in Jan of 1992- Started with a $1,000 and a Bank loan.(Of course times were a bit easier then) Now, 24 years later I could Retire if I choose....

Hard Work, discipline and a strong will to succeed can make a success story out of most folks in this Terrible industry called 'Transportation'

So you're saying that you don't feel totally covered without 25k for the truck or is that for both the truck and trailer? Does include that having some working capitol as well to cover fuel, or just in case an engine goes? Are we having to factor with that 25k or no?

And your history of loads pulled and for how much with them. Pull cheap one and never again will they offer you a good rate. Why should they when you have proven yourself to pull for much less than market price.
