If you don't give 2 weeks notice, whether its in trucking or not, your mancard is pink. Leaving someone in a lurch is a stupid thing to do, and it doesn't matter if its a single truck outfit, or a mega. It tells someone all they need to know about you. Man up, and tell them what your going to do... And do what you say your going to.
51.50, tinytim, Old Iron and 1 other person Thank this. -

Young Blood ....the world is NOT a 2-way street, meaning if the company decides to fire you, you will not be given a 2 week notice.White_Knuckle_Newbie Thanks this. -

I always give two weeks notice. But I always make sure I can start immediately at my new job in case they tell me I don't have to finish off my two weeks.

I have heard of hands being fired for trying to do the job the right way and the employer is a gypo.carramrod32 Thanks this. -
I had a guy quit on me about 5 years ago, gave me 2 weeks notice. We're a small outfit, and it would have really hurt if he had just turned in the keys and walked. Hated to see him go, but he got a great offer he just had to take.
Last month I forwarded his contact info to a vendor of mine looking for someone with his specific skills. He got an interview last week.
What comes around, goes around.
