I was talking to a couple of Swift Drivers at a TS the other day and they swear that their company gives the miles to the <2 year drivers to save money, and also to run the senior drivers off.

i don't know...when i was there as a rookie i was going everywhere. here at covenant
they give frieght to the trainers and to the newbies w/experience(sometimes).
the trainers here i hear are making a killing, there are so many newbies that they are asking drivers to become trainers.
at times there is a waiting list for a trainer, or they put 2 newbies and 1 trainer in a truck! talk about getting miles.
alot of the sorrow comes from your --dm--- if he's an a-hole, your done..
    thats the situation i'm in........:biggrin_25510:

I have heard this as well... and not just Swift... I think it's modus operandi for the large driving mills now... Swift and Werner runs newspaper ads dailey and weekly here in AZ... so they gotta be put'n those new guys somewhere... meaning there have to be seats opening up. Covenant operates differently I think... they make you a trainee and have you running teams for at least 6 months, burn you out, and replace you.

    good morning drivers!
well here i sit in nashville waiting to get my girlfriend on a taxi to the airport, familly emergency:a death in the familly, her 13 yo old niece was killed at the bus stop on the way to school. i asked my --dm-- if he could find us a load to fla
to get her there and he bluntly stated that i should put her on a bus, really nice.talk about christian compassion for your fellow man, wonder why there are atheists out there?
our first hopes was that one day she would get her cdl and team here, but now after what we've experienced and seen, i think that won't be an option.
next time i go work somewhere if theres any hint of a "hollyroller" wind blowing there, i'm hauling ##*!!!
i finally got to see the prez of covenant on a film, he's so concerned w/safety, and the safety of his drivers! what crap, he's more worried about the huge payouts he has to deal with when a newbie screws up,rolls over or blows up.
thats also the reason why covenant drivers must shut down in snowy/icy weather.
when i started, that was just a hope...believe me i drove in some conditions that left some stains on my shorts:biggrin_25511:.
as a conclusion to this post, yep, i'm still having issues with the truck, it goes into a shop and comes out with other bugs...i guess it keeps the mechanics working!
be well be safe and best wishes to all the drivers out there.

well here i am again, writing about a rathole company. i got a load to sc from buffalo, ny...about 750 mile+-....this company pays you a certain amount of money if it is haz-mat, a penny xtra per mile and $50 if you take it all the way.
well like i've said, these folks don't want you to make money, they get the money no matter what. and i have to laugh at all the people that come here and believe what they are told about great home time{not!}, great miles....yeah, it's a know'm and blow'm situation here.......brown nosers do good here, guaranteed.
well i got to nc and they wanted it dropped at the yard....i have noticed that they have a freakish fetish to drop loads in the yards just when your close to the end, and like mine if it's hazmat...some xtra $$$$. so i lost half the haz-pay and some miles.
go ahead..ask them why and they don't and can't reply:biggrin_25510:..........
maybe they like their yards to look full, hey biz is up!!!!--not--
they also have a serious shortage of mt trl's...and believe it or not, they have absolutely no clue where they are, in ohio it took them 14.5 hrs to get me an mt!!!!!!!!!!!
i know that no company is perfect, but the crap that goes on here reminds me of a chaotic kindergarden!
i really hope that the word goes out to all that believe the --caca-- they spread in the mags at the ts's.....everytime i see it i laugh............ they claim that they care about their drivers---hahahahahahahhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there is nothing to do here except get your time in and haul **s quickly!!!!!!!
    well thats all for now,
    best wishes to all!!

You keep mentioning your girlfriend in the truck. Most companies will only allow a family member or spouse to be a rider. And that is with them signing a release. I was in the military and like most companies they look at the family as the circle of concern. Since this is your girlfriend and is not related by blood nor marriage they are not under any obligation to route you to FL. Because you think this is unfair or not right you need to look at the bigger picture. It seems you have issues with this company, as most drivers do with their companies. Instead of ranting on and on... start keeping a log of phone calls, trips, hotel stays, truck breakdowns, etc etc etc.. When you talk to your DM act nice. the key word is ACT.... start talking to the supervisor and do not get into a yelling contest. Think about what you are going to say and even write down key notes for the conversation. Pick your battles. Remember you or not under any contract and all they have to do is say "Clean your truck out". ... Keep your options open ... remember start keeping notes and logs. this will give you something to go back on when you talk to the supervisor and if that does not work then go higher... keep a cool head.. :biggrin_25526:

got it, i have been keeping records, and i've gone as far up as the vp of ops..........
as far as my girlfriend on the truck, they don't care, as long as you pay the policy.
i wouldn't be out here without her........and the load to florida was as i hoped from them an act of "kindness". yeah. thats gone from this world.
between the losses and the stress, i only look forward to the 6 month period to find something better.
the reason i started post was to show drivers that want to come here what they might be in for........not to turn this into a "BMW" sight.
i appreciate all the info and feed back i get, 200%.:biggrin_25525:
best wishes to all out there!

All big companies do that. There only reason for existing is to max. profits for their share holders. Why pay $.40 a mile when you can pay $.25 to move the same freight.

where does this all end? i am looking for a smaller company now.... 600 trk+-.
i met someone that went to work for coca-cola, what a nightmare he said. they treat you like a cog in a machine, you fail or squeek, then they replace you, that was a while ago, the bigger the outfit the worse it is.
does anyone know about --tyson--? i know they are big, but i never heard anything about that company.
one more thing that irritates me about covenant is that their directions are crap...
and they won't do anything about it, yet they expect you to p/u and del on time.
thank god for phones and online directions. i never had this problem at swift or usxpress.
    best wishes and be safe!
