    Well,nerts.
As of this morning, I no longer drive for May Trucking.

No whine/complaint that they're screwing me. I did it to myself. Got an OOS (forgot I was split-berth logging when I started the next day. DOT said "bad boy" and sat me by the road for a couple hours), then I broke a hinge on a trailer, backing into a VERY tight dock.

The killer, though, was some stupid driver putting his truck in the ditch yesterday morning. (Pulled onto the shoulder to check directions, as driver was slowing - half on the shoulder, half on the pavement, the shoulder collapsed. Long story short, truck ended up -upright- in a boggy ditch, about 3 feet below pavement level. Took 3 cops and 2 heavy duty tow trucks to get truck/trailer out of the muck.) No damage to anything but the bog, but it was the last straw.

For the edification of other newbie truckers, I've included photos; all part of a series I choose to call "How not to park a truck at 06:30"

Did this all happen in the same week Lurch? Like the title for the photo series. Hope you get something else lined up soon!

Looks like a 2 lane road like I drove in Arkansas. We will have to wait until he tells where.

Now why the heck did you do that lurch? Looks like the denver metro area. looks like the tow trucks phone number starts with 303

You should of found a better spot to pull over and check the directions.

Ps you probaly will have 2 preventable accidents on your dac since they had to get a wrecker to pull you out and you damaged a hinge or two.

    but you live and learn.

    Denver area
Smith Road, about .75 mile east of Peoria

I pulled over there because there were already heavy truck tracks there (they didn't come out at all in the photos, darnit).

The problem wasn't that I drove off the shoulder. The shoulder *collapsed* when I was less than half way onto it.

But yeah, two preventables and an OOS in the space of 10 days. Not one of my better weeks, I don't think.

You can see why I'm not ragging at May, can't you? Sure, I'd love to still be working there - and they did tell me that if I kept my nose clean for 6 months I could "probably" come back - but in light of the past 10 days, I can hardly blame them for suggesting I ruin somebody else's trucks
