Get all the endorsements. Even reefer companies haul hazmat loads such as an occasional load of paint or something like that. Need tanker endorsement because may be pulling a dry van or reefer trailer and get a load of liquid in those big plastic totes that and about 4 or 5 ft. tall and circumfence as big as a pallet or more. That liquid can surge just like tanker loads do.

Just to clear something up. I've ran team Reefer and team flatbed with Swift as a mentor. In terms of OTR, reefer runs circles around flatbed. Not to say you can't pull off a 6k plus week, but it happens more often with reefer.

Now if you wanted to go solo, flatbed would have an edge there. And you spend far less time securing a load, than waiting at a reefer customer.

However,,, we do have stack teams in flatbed that move exclusively promasters vans and some dodge trucks too. They seem to always be running thier tails off. The run the vans in two separate trucks and then stack the other truck on top of it and drive back to Laredo for more vans.

I don't have the latest reefer or van scale. But I do have the last pay scale for flatbed. IMG_20161018_070040.jpg

Thank you for the info,we made up our mind and going to run reefer, plus it's easier to learn the ropes of trucking without having to worry about securing and tarping a load.

What's the lowest miles you ever ran in a week as a team reefer?

I actually fell asleep responding to this thread. The other day. 5 stops of aluminum. Tarped and it was raining. Head hit pillow it was done. Of course I did have unload many boxes cause the forklift was down at a stop. Fortunately alluminum is not steel.

The smart answer would be 0. Vacation. But I know you like a everything's running full blast sort of answer. And it was 4k and some change. Screwed by the holidays.
