Kerosene in diesel.

Kerosene, Jet-a and number 1 diesel all come out of the same loading arm.
Just wasting money adding kerosene, less power and mileage on number 1 diesel.

 

@Chinatown & @Mr. Jackhole .... keep talking; Why add trans-fluid in there? what's the implied benefit? I have an 98 truck that needs tanks cleaned out (diesel sat too long)

I saw this a kid in my previous life. I think about it now, but never knew why.

 

I wouldn't use it if I owned the truck. It's supposed to clean the fuel, prevent gelling, lube injector pump, remove wax buildup from paraffin in fuel,etc. and on and on. Even the mechanics at companies I worked for said when you change fuel filters, to fill the new filter with automatic transmission fluid vs. diesel fuel.
I won't say it's wrong to use it, but I wouldn't in my personal diesel powered vehicle whether it be a big truck or car.
When I was a teen guys would put moth balls in the fuel tank to raise the octane level thinking it would improve performance. Any old school guys remember that?

 

I thought it was amusing when the NH DOT sticked my tanks . I always had the correct color fuel, but I had US Government plates on my 18 and we never paid any taxes on fuel. I could have run plaid colored fuel if I wanted to

 

Only reason to do that would be if it's cold and your worried about the fuel gelling......

Bigger question is where does the guy find clear kero ......?

 

That’s bs. All it does is gum up the fuel system if you use it too much.

Sulfur is good for the engine, it adds lubricant to the fuel system and valves. They took it out because of the acid lakes it produced in Sweden and Finland, not for any other reason.

ATF is a joke to use now a days. It is a heavy oil that doesn’t burn all that well in a Diesel engine and if you have a pre-ulsd engine, then it may help with the ip if there is no other additives used.

Seriously that’s just plain stupid.

Kerosene is supposed to be a pure product, because it’s use can be indoors with proper ventilation. It is the same as #1 diesel and we all know that’s not the best for mileage.

 

Lmao, I was guilty of using mothballs a time or two.

 

Auto tran fluid loosens carbon deposits well , but not sure it can do much with heavy gunk.

 

I've ran straight kerosene in my old 73 K100 years ago in a pinch, always added ATF as well. Kerosene doesn't have the lubricant that diesel does, not sure I would even attempt it in today's modern trucks.

 

Yes I have personal experience with mothballs in my 1967 F100. I know for a fact what it does, and I know for a fact what the outcome is when you add to many!
