Our trucks have less mechanical resistance for sure. Your cab goot better aerodinamics. But based on huge gap between truck and trailer and others it is question if not worst than here.

Your fuel savings are based on constant (altrough higher) speed and less start and stop.

A typical American solution. Building something hugely impressive and expensive for something that can be easily achieved with normal truck components. Mining trucks with 60 tonnes load capacity made from standard truck components are build by Ginaf (with MX-13 engine) and Bas Mining trucks (based on Volvo).

Most likely when it was mostly idling to keep the driver warm or cool.

It tells me a lot. Of course this guy ordered all his trucks with the Cummins X15 Performance engine. After all if it has Performance in the name, that is what you're after. However, we have already established that the "Performance" series has low torque at low rpm. The Efficiency series has a far better torque curve.

So it all comes together, trucks made to look very impressive, and engines that were chosen for the name "Performance", that are actually worse than the Efficiency engines. It's all about making an impression, looks, no contents. Obviously, someone who is buying such a truck will never look at an MX engine, he's not interested in figures, just impressions.

To prove my point I've added a document with the specifications of all Cummins X15 engines.

The engines run two different compression ratios. Show us the curves, not peak numbers. If you lug a performance engine, you asking for head gasket issues, hence probably why peak torque is set @ higher rpm. Driving a performance engine and driving a fleet speced fuel sipper are two different animals.

How is it all about fuel mileage? Fuel cost is not a major factor in many operations. The difference in fuel cost between my hood and an aero truck is 2k dollars a year tops. A more than fair trade off for the easy engine access come repair time.
