I think it will come down to a injector / injectors problem.
The starange part is the fact that when the Air Dog system was disconnected the problems got worse, but with no air showing in the sight glasses without the air dog in use, im thinking its the added fuel pressure which the air dog creates (added 20+ PSI ) which is packing more fuel in a injector which is lazy, not opening long enough .
Thats a thought im having anyway.
If anyone has anymore information or knows of someone with a similar issue, please send him my way.

    Thanks.

My next step is to get back to CAT with a loaded trailer to replicate to them this ongoing issue. Truck engine ran VERY BAD today, popping and stumbling with significant drop in power numerous times today.
Tomorrow i will try that old trick of letting the engine warm up for a couple hours before leaving to run north to load. It seemed to have a positive effct of sorts in the past, il try it again in the morning. I have no idea why that worked to cause the engine to run better in the past, but it costs nothing more than a couple gallons of fuel to do it, so what the heck.
Ill keep yall posted as time goes by and anything different occurs.
This is becoming a major pain in my back side. Even Kevin Rutherford (Sirus XM "Road Dog Truckin Radio" ) was stumped, asking i call in again if /when i ever figure out, what he refered to as a "very simple ECM and uncomplicated bullet-proof reliable engine"

    SAR and spsauerland Thank this.

Kevin Rutherford? Seriously......? He’s a salesman. Haven’t you read about him on here ? Snake oil salesman’s... is what he is.

Information is information. The reason I called was, first off, it' free. Secondly, I was into a long drive, at night, and he talks to a lot of people. He's a snake oil salesman, but for my needs he's a mediator, coming between thousands upon thousands of owner ops with truck issues, questions, and top shops like Pitsburgh Power etc. Yes, a crap shoot but a chance that perhaps that if not Kevin Rutherford, (via a past caller of his) then one of the millions of his listener's hearing my unresolved issue made public through his radio program would hear my detailed explanation of my problem and call in to his program to say " I also had that problem that CAT C15 6NZ owner called in About, and the issue was ??? and to rectify the problem I had to do ????. "
By posting my personal cell number on this blog, to date I've had 56 owner operators contact me directly, either to simply help ( or try to help) me, but most with either "nearly" the same, or 100% identical mirrored image of the troubles I've been incurring .
Hence, the reason I reached out to a much larger venue of owner ops, via the air waves.

Had a relative of a friend drive my truck with empty trailer (60,000 lbs empty)
Hes a quiet fella, 31 years CAT tech whos medical issues prevented him from further being a tech so he joined his family trucking business, does lighter stuff in the shop, drives truck and so on.
After a substantial ride for hours, up / down grades etc wecame to the end of our drive and he said injector not filling fully.
From a stop while getting up to speed all is well until the time between shifting up again is longer as the engine is still amidst RPM climbing and with the engine turning slower the fuel pump does the same. But the injectors are wanting to load up, and when the fuel flow cant enter the injector properly, the result is what my symptoms are. He further explained how the engine speeds up quickly at lower speeds while getting up to road speed, quicker engine speeds, quicker fuel flow, higher fuel pressure and the engine isnt yet at that higher torque / struggle at upper gears so with lots of fuel flow and pressure the symptoms arent there as the injectors are drinking just fine. He elaborated on micro voltages etc.. but thats over and above my comprehension so ill leave that one alone.
I also had my 1st ride in the passenger seat, and the symptoms are greatly insulated but there. In the drivers seat, with 3 pedals and a steering column going through the fire wall and in your hands and feet, symptoms are hugely amplified, as this technician from the USA explained it would obviously be for previously stated reasons.
Now, i was reluctant to add ATF (tranny oil) to my fuel so double dosed on 2 seperate fill ups, "HOWES" injector lube, and its having a great positive effect.
Hopefully CAT (that is amid a diagnosis etc, under warranty) goes beyond what the books tell them, and more closely diagnosis the issue via that knowledge of micro voltage or remote heat sensors pointed at each exhaust port, which is what the guy from the USA says they commonly use to diagnose such tougher issues.
Ill keep yall up to speed.
    Thanks

If you have the dealer along for another ride with a laptop get them to cut out injectors when it starts happening. Sometimes hard to do if the problem is as intermittent as your is. Trucks never act up when you want them to.

I've had injector cut out tests done so many times , while driving, standing still, 5 cylinder cut outs, while the symptoms occur while symptoms occur VIOLENTLY, CAT did at least 4 that I recall, another shop 2x.
    While pulling 140,000 Lbs +++.
While pulling heavy, popping and stumbling climbing a huge grade, down to 3rd gear .
Every tech acknowledges the problem exists and 80% of the time they say it's injector related, but can't seem to point to the bad one.
At a traffic light not ling ago I lost a injector momentarily . I punched the throttle pedal in a panic and it cleared itself . What I should have done is let it stay down and toggled my cruise switch to snap shot the culprit and record the faulty one. It would have been all over with, but I screwed up , as I was in heavy heavy 4 lane bumper to bumper traffic in the middle if the city and instantaneously had a brain fart thinking id be dead in the water sitting there blocking everyone and jumped on the throttle pedal. I kick myself for that one. Another time in a 140, 000 lb pull it did the same as I rounded a curve at 65 mph in heavy traffic. I depressed the clutch, punched the throttle 2x to clear it. Again, a stupid move. I should have snap shot the ECM but was pulling hard and again in heavy uphill traffic at 4:50pm on a Thursday near Toronto.
Anyway...5am is coming fast and I'm only now about to get out of the truck for dinner, shower and some sleep.
    Keep the support coming guy's.

I have had a similar issue with 6NZ that would only miss with heavier loads and in a pull. We did every check we could and it came down to bad injector, but was having hell of a time pin pointing it. Must of done fifty cut-out test and couldn't find it, but also had trouble making it act up. Finally was able to "duplicate" the miss/ popping by with engine running in shop, turn on the fan, smash it to floor and hold for couple seconds, let out about 100-200 RPM, and punch it and it would start missing/popping. If fan was off, it would not miss/pop. Did cut-out test and still was not able to pin point it. Said to hell with it and went old school and pulled off exhaust manifold and re-ran test. Sure enough, it was TWO bad injectors #5 and # 3 so in firing order making one big miss.. Injectors were reman. Put two in it. Problem gone for couple months then engine got dead miss. Easy to find with cut-out test. Injector was reman. Good for about nine months to year, then started to get slight flutter in a pull. Tried everything, but couldn't pin point it. Finally said to hell with it and put 6 NEW injectors. Knocking on wood, that was over three years ago and still running miss free.

There is a truck running around here that the guy spent a ton of money trying to get rid of a stumble. They finally pulled the fuel pump and it had a broken shaft. What they figured was the way it was broke it would run fine but would slip and catch sporadically causing the stumble.

I can make my truck stumble and spit....like a flooded gas enough engine that's loaded up.....On a hard pull if you don't roll out of the peddle and let the turbo back off before downshifting it and roll back into it easy. But it's because of the tune and turbo that I run.

That is exactly my issue, but im currently at the mercy of CAT because of warranty i have.
CAT top technician rode beside me, district manager from CAT sitting in the bunk. They installed 1 fuel line pre head with a sight glass, zip tied it to my mirror. A 2nd fuel line post head, also with a sight glass, tied it also to my mirror on passenger side. We went truckin and no air in the fuel was seen at all. With my air dog connected (they disconnected it) and fuel pressure 20 lbs higher, engine ran somewhat better, thats for sure, so im thinking a lazy injector getting a bit more fuel with the added pressure.
At the end of our ride, hoses removed and the tech wants me back with trailer loaded, which im struggling to do as the tech goes home 3pm, and i cant get to CAT before then and they want to keep the same tech involved in it, start to stop.
In the meantime, im finding twice on fill up, im double dosing HOWES injector lube and cleaner is heading in the right direction as im getting a positive response after running it for the past 5 days.
If i could only get a technician to drive the truck, feeling the steering wheel pulsing, the pedals shaking, and all the rest that transmits up the steering shaft because its mounted on the frame and transmits, and feel how pushing on the accelerator when it stumbles results in power drop off. But sitting in the bunk and passenger seat they are shielded from it all, to a point. Easy to see and hear stuff on my dash vibrate, my speed ball on steering wheel shaking and vibrating, yet to them its not enough, they want more , like it to show on the lap top he had on his lap plugged into my ecm, which unless a injector fails completely, it doesnt show.
The challenge continues. But ya, your past injector problem is mine exactly.
Thanks for your help and support.
    Ill keep yall posted
