If you wanted a 379 Pete or a KW W900 it sounds like you would have a good chance of getting one at JCT, am i right?

 

My husband joined JCT a year ago. I ride with him. They give us the preplan and I go on Google and get the directions. It all works out. But Knighton kept asking about NYC. Knighton, you can rest easy. JCT does not go to NYC. The only one I know of that does go to NYC is Keith S and he told us that. My hubby would totally agree with you about NYC. We did that once with that blood sucking England and that was one sheer nightmare.

Something to cover on truck payments.

The six weeks you're with JCT you don't have a truck payment. Mr. Christner realizes that you're coming in with little or no money so he waivers the payments for the first six weeks. He also gives you $200.00 dollars starter fuel.

Toll Passes

We got PikePass, EZpass, and Kpass. If you have a toll that you have to pay for, you get reimbursed on your next settlement. Just make sure you turn in your receipt in with your trippak. Same with your lumper fees, turn in those receipts as well.

Trippak Scanning

Your allowed to trippak scan up to 12 times a year.
Solo drivers

Like I said hubby is a solo. We average 4000 plus a week. Just to give you an idea, we ran 4013 week before last and got paid last week $1,465.00. Before that ran around 3800 got paid $1,100.00 and something. You will hear drivers out there complaining about the miles and I will not lie about that, because they complained to hubby and I about it, but yet in their same breaths they said we love sitting in casinos and truck stops. Well gee helloooo! I wonder why you don't get miles. I think they forgot you're suppose to keep the wheels rotating in order to make the miles and the money. In fact some even told us and another driver we know they will sit at casinos and let their hours run out just so they can sit there and gamble. Now let me get this straight. You're complaining about the miles and the money, but yet you sit at the casinos blowing your money and letting your hours run out while doing so. Trying to comprehend what's wrong with that picture.

Home time

Like the other JCT drivers said they will try to get you home to as close to the date you wanted.

Another thing to remember like JD pointed out. This is your business. We had one DM (Dave/David, hubby and I call him brain dead Dave), ask us to swap a load with one of his drivers who excepted a load and then gee all of a sudden that driver ran out of hours and couldn't finish the load. First off why in the heck did that DM want us to switch with him when he ran out of hours and our load was 10 hours longer to get to in the first place, and his load was due the next night, plus he would still have to shut down for his 10 hrs. Plus hubby and I would have lost $500.00 bucks doing so but then we found out from a friend who has been with JCT for 3 yrs to that those DM's would have to pay you at least $250.00 to compensate. If not you better found someone else for that load sucker cause we aren't doing it. But like JD pointed out they did test between Cascadia and Prostar. Prostar beat the Cascadia because of the fuel mileage. We have a late 2007 early 2008 International Eagle and love it. We won't give it up until it's time.

Just make sure you're always on time with your loads. Mr. Christner himself and his sons really frown upon that. Can't blame them. There in a business. Us personally, we were never late on a load UNLESS it was customer error. We were never late on a load because of our own accord. And never ever be late for a Tyson load or Wal-Mart. Tyson more so than Wal-Mart because Tyson is JCT's biggest account.

Load Refusal

We had lunch with a few DM's (ours being one of them) and they all specifically told us, don't refuse loads. Refuse and the planners will remember and give the good runs to the people who are runners. We don't sit. We have preplans back to back. Drop and go.

First about the NYC runs. In the year my hubby and I have been with JCT we have not ran to NYC. Our DM knows we don't want to drive in that city. That's why I told you about the lunch we had with the DM's and the refusal of loads. Plz be careful. I know, I know, I sound like a mother hen, but I am just telling you about our year experience with JCT. Our DM told us in these words, "No matter how crummy the load is, remember that load will get you to a much better one". The year Ed and I have been with JCT, we have never ever refused a load. Even if he and I were a team, we still wouldn't refuse a load. Those loads are your bread and butter no matter how miniscule they are. We have always been 8 to 28 hours ahead of schedule. We pulled a Tyson-Wal-Mart load off 28 hours ahead of schedule. Lol, I told hubby to go there and there just happened to be a lumper still available, how convenient. We have never ever been late on a load on our own accord. A few of the customers made us late, be we weren't on our own accord. Like I said 8 to 28 ahead of scedule. JCT smiles on that. If you ever come across a driver by the name of Houston S, please ask him about his experience. That man has been with JCT for 19 years and is one of the nicest guys. Mr. Christner was Houston's DM back at Ingman Trucking before Mr. Christner went out on his own. The history he could tell you about JCT. We ran into him a second time and he asked my hubby, "Where's your wife"? It was to darn cold to go out but I am sorry I missed him a second time. We are on our way to CA as well. We were at the yard getting our truck fixed and the loads were thin like nil to none so we grabbed it. Oh and btw, you'll probably recognize our maroon International. We have a white cat named Casper who thinks he owns the truck. He's a white Japanese Bobtail. He sits on dad's lap when dad drives. He thinks he's driving too. And we're friends with another JCT driver who has an all black cat named Spookiy. The restarting of the Casper cartoon lol. You 2 be safe out there, God bless.

Even as a non truck driver, I have done my research to see who offers the best deal,and based off of LMB's and JCTwife's testomonies, JCT does indeed offer a very good lease program thats hard to compete.

I havementioned this before, but compare JCT's plan to Swift's, JB Hunt's, CR England's and Central's. In addition, I have compared it with dealers and no one supports you like JCT with Central following a close 2nd out of those companies I mentioned.

With JCT you do not owe anything like the rest of the companies. As many people have said, at the end of the lease, you owe Mr. Christner $1. With other companies, you owe thousands of dollars for the truck. The other good thing with JCT is if you never refuse a load, you will get good miles and succeed.

It's the idiots that do not and go broke like at CR england. Finally, you can be an o/o for themafter your lease is up or lease another truck and still make a decent income.

A few questions for the current JCT drivers.

First is there a group health plan offered by JCT that is open to the lease ops and if so who is it through?

I was under the impression (from reading this thread) that the trucks to choose from in orientation are "used." Does JCT offer "new" trucks to new hires?

LMB has mentioned utilizing "drop yards" since he began with JCT. How many terminals or drop yards does JCT have AND where are they located?

A follow up to the above question; Is there any kind of "drop fee" assessed by JCT for dropping a load at a yard rather than delivering it?

How long do you have to lease a truck before you actually get to the $1.00 buyout?

Someone mentioned that JCT actually "waives" the first 6 weeks of truck payments. Can anyone else confirm this? (I have been to JCT's website and have not seen this mentioned anywhere).

Who pays for the reefer fuel?

Is there any kind of "pallet exchange?"

Who pays for trailer washouts?

Any other "deductions" or charges we should know about?
