was wondering what’s the most common style end dump in Alabama ? I was reading if you have a 6 axle combination meaning tri axle trailer + drive axle on tractor + steer axle you can gross 84000 on state highways plus a 10% allowance which will gross you out at 92400 so as long as you are 43ft long with 6 axles which is the FBF for 6 axles . So with that said in Alabama what’s THE MOST COMMON Length TRAILER ?? Common axles ?? Tri or tandem ?? and STEEL OR ALUMINUM ? Because I was told they haul a lot off dip rap down there but then some told me they use a lot of aluminum style end dumps so I’m curious what’s the most common style of trailer used in the dump game across Alabama ?
What’s the most common style end dump used in ALABAMA???

Sounds like a question for @NightWind or @Trashtrucker1707. One is out of Alabama and the other is a frequent visitor. On a side note I have a 2017 Mac 40’ 102’ 72’ sides for sale if you interested in Kansas I’ll even deliver!!

The company I work for out of Florida has me under a 2011 Mac, same specs as @blade. We get a 88,000 pound permit for AL with our registration, I don't use it though, the hassle of running 2 lane roads back down to Florida isn't worth the few extra dollars on the load. @NightWind would be the best person to ask, she lives in Alabama and has been pulling end dumps for a long time.

The most common end dump is probably a tie between 6 axles and 5 primarily aluminum. Alabama has a 10% tolerance law which was enacted for loggers and farmers because they don't normally have scales to check their weights. You pay an extra fee when you get your tag which allows you to gross 82500 on 4 axles (triaxle) or 88,000 on 5 and 92400 on six. You will have to have 41 feet for the bridge laws.SL3406, Ruthless, MagnumaMoose and 1 other person Thank this. -
