I have to agree... before they even test you, they tell you "If you have any doubt, maybe you should go home for a few weeks and be sure"

They take 2 samples... first one comes back positive they give you the option of going home... your dime.... if you agree to test the second... you still go home on your dime, and they put it on your DAC.

Well, yeah. DOT doesn't really appreciate druggies driving 80,000 lb vehicles down the road either. Some jerk failed a random on the road last year and hosed our safety rating. Go figure why peeing positive at orientation doesn't go over well... anywhere! Advice: Don't be drinking during training either. You go postive for alcohol, and you'll be buying a bus ticket too!

And neither will a trainer. A very good way to get put off of a training truck pronto...

We don't tollerate folks who can't make their load and unload appointments on time as well. Another good way to get fired (ie... go drive for Swift!)

Wow, your experience is much different than mine. When I was in orientation about 2 months ago, we only lost one guy due to the drug test (experienced driver too :biggrin_25511: ) and we lost an older guy due to his hearing. Those are the only two I saw get sent packing.

I am currently a 39.26 BMI and I am running 2 miles a day under 18 minutes. I weigh 280 pounds. The BMI/obese scale is total crap. My neighbor who is definitely not obese cannot even run 1 mile.

I was 299 when I 1st spoke to a prime recruiter and I am losing this weight just to get in with Prime even though I disagree with them using BMI to screen applicants. 2 years ago i lost 170 pounds in 9 months, gained 70 back after having some horrible life experiences one right after the other. If it wasn't for my fiance and kids I would've left this ugly world. They came into my life just before the crap hit the fan, its as if a higher power knew I'd bailout if I didnt have that support.

Oh well, BMI is useless and I'd love to hop on a treadmill in front of some scientists to prove it.

The military has used BMI for a long time. A lot of guys have to tape out. Having a big neck helps you pass, but I knew a body builder that his arms was so big they had to special order his fatigue jackets. He failed the BMI every time and had to tape out.

Same here... a fella in the ECM shop in Korea used to spend his off-duty time in the gym. He was constantly on "weight control" even though there wasn't a bit of visible fat on his body - all muscle. Saw the guy lift and hold a monster ECM pod on an F4 one night while the rest of the guys muscled some jammed cams to get the thing to lock onto it's adapter... amazing feat of pure strength.

BMI, while it has some applicability to fat guys, also is pure crap if you don't have any or little fat on your body.

If I remember correctly... when I was in the Navy.... those pulled out the calipers for those types of guys...

I know they would send, the guys who were getting ready to be bounced out of the service for weight issues, up to the Medical facility for the dunk test... something about the water displacement and your weight would be the final determining measurement.

I dont know... I always have some sort of health insurance. Sure, maybe I have payed more into insurance than I have got out in the long run... but it really comes in handy sometimes... kept me from having to come up with some serious dough.
