Actually I've settled in quite nicely. With no harassment or micromanaging from this next company. No in facing camera. If I say I can't make a schedule they either take it off me or change the time. Repair is slow, but not questioned, especially if it would be against my license if dot found it.
The irony is that for the guys calling me on the tandems... Roehl never made 1 comment about it to me. No phone call, no write up. No stern conversation. Nothing. Only the camera watcher ever mentioned it.

Dear, they shouldn't have to say "check the pins" and quite frankly, you're lucky nothing else happened. How do you know the camera watcher didn't call Roehl? I hope the "new" company has better results for you. I have a feeling, in 2 months it's going to be the same sxxx, different shovel. The real kicker, is you pissed away $5,000 bucks, so you're in the hole before even starting and you got a bad rap from Roehl, which is one of the biggest carriers. I don't mean to rip on you, it's just, us "seasoned drivers" have heard this time and time again. That's truckin'.

Oh my. Well. Item 1...we are in agreement. I'm ok with dropping it unless you are amused by the topic.
Item 2... The man who monitored the video IS a Roehl employee, sorry if I didn't make it clear. He works in Marshfield.
Item 3... been here 6 months, my curse hasn't caught up to me yet but if you want to pray for me I would think that mighty fine of you.
Item 4...I have a debt for my education. That's kinda expected isn't it? No major crisis. And no, Roehl doesn't say anything bad about me, I'm potentially eligible for rehire after discussion or however they phrase it on the DAC.
I'm not afraid of poverty and not much concerned with other people's opinions and frankly I'd quit again under the same circumstances. I would never recommend someone remain in a situation where they felt complicit in their own disrespect. At first I thought why are they behaving like that... Then I thought why the hell am I degrading myself by staying in it? I may be a lot of things but a prostitute is not one of them. I won't be demeaned for money. YMMV
Lastly, of course you do. But perhaps someone will be nice to you for Xmas.
It ok, everyone has issues, some people just spread theirs out more than others.

    201 and HillbillyDeluxeTruck Thank this.

I could post a myriad of responses to that quote.

    Here's one...

I think you'll do ok. A rough start, and I didn't owe anybody a dime for my learning, but those were different times. Far as the pins, we've all pulled some doozy's, to our credit, there never were any cameras, so nobody was the wiser. Still, , I don't mean to make it sound redundant, but not checking pins is like not checking the 5th wheel, it's very important, but you learned, and nothing happened. Driver facing cameras, not for me, but now, you know what to look for in a company. Best of luck, I don't do the "holidays", but thanks anyway.

I'll be honest, I had some similar issues in phase 3, once I finally went Solo. I had a fleet manager that was far more concerned about me being off duty for a run, while my consignee took 3.5 hours to unload me, than a major safety issue where they didn't brace any of the freight and it was just free to "roll around the trailer" and it was a preloaded presealed trailer. Unless she had something to fuss at me about I never heard from her. I embraced the suck, and learned a couple of hard learned self taught lessons on securing your freight, which was never covered in phase 1 or 2 and the only reason it was covered in phase 3, is because I experianced it first hand. Honestly, never knew what a van strap was for, til I needed one in phase 3, and while that is basic stuff, so is 2+2, but when your 4 and no one talks about simple math, and your expected to know it, it kinda sucks. After embracing the suck for 21 days for phase 3, I got out, with my regular FM, and now, she is there for me. Not to hound me. Only time I hear from her, is when I ask to move up an appt so I'm not sitting for no reason, or if there is an issue with the truck. Which every squalk list I have ever turned in, has been handled immediately, weather at a terminal or at a loves or ta. Roehl has open accounts to make sure I can always, and I mean always fly thru a level 1 DOT inspection. the pay is above avg for a starter company, and there is a lot of room to grow well above starter status. I will also say, aside from securement for van, the training was too notch. I had attended a CDL school prior to coming to Roehl, which I realized that was pointless, as all they actually taught me was tricks to "pass the DOT test" Roehl taught me practical skills on driving the 75' truck and now I can back into pretty much anywhere, any time, any how. Most of my classmates are the same way. I watch guys from lots of other starters and I usually end up coaching them into their spot because I feel bad. Yes, CR England I'm looking at you. I occasionally have to stand up and so no, when they want to put me into violation, but the pushback is relatively small compared to what some companies expect. Yep, I'm looking at you FED EX! Overall, once initial embracing of the suck, getting into my rythem, and matching me up with an FM that shares my values and values my safety and my opinion, I am very happy here.
