I was terminated from western Express in August of 2023(I know I know. I was speeding in Cali coming down a hill). It’s been over a year now, I’ve been super unsuccessful in finding another company. I’ve been super hard on myself for my own mess up. I only have about 10 days short of 3 months under my belt of OTR. I’ve been a yard spotter for the past year now and I really want to get back out there. I don’t want my career to be tanked for my mess up. I have since learned from it. Does anyone know of any companies OTR or regional in the Midwest that hire folks with safety terms? Western express was bottom of the barrel already to begin with. Send your best advice here. Keep your criticism for someone who needs it.
Where is your location? How much over the speed limit were you? Did the police give you a ticket? ` I'd try May Trucking which sometimes gives a 2nd chance. May Trucking Company – Performance. I would just like to say, that much of the times that we see as unlucky, or you wished you had not got caught etc. Can be and is really good luck or a saving grace. An example of what I mean is right now you are seeing this a grim situation. But if you had not been pulled over at that time, or if the wife had not needed you for some help that held you back, etc. You may have had a crash or you may not have met that boss that gives you a break. Little things that seem bad can be something that changes your whole life for the better. This I am sure has saved lives. Or will in the future. you are reaching out and that is a good thing. It sounds as if you have learned to obey the laws of the road. Good Luck. Think Positive.
Get a year or two at current job. Store up this burning desire to go OTR and use that to motivate you to drive like a boy scout. Feeling bad is the signal you didn't do what you should have done. Do better. When the economy turns around & you have time since your ticket you will have better choices. Do you want to get in a spiral of working for worse & worse companies? If not, then let time pass & learn to make better choices. A big truck is big responsibility.
LOL, think Positive. I love California, even while I am at times SMH, wondering what the heck are these people thinking. Wherever I go there I am. So I try to find good, I have to say , I get upset with the crazy things that are not good for Drivers, or anyone. I try to think where is that coming from......i try to think like they do, but I cant get my head up .......you know.....If I were a Driver, I would feel the same as you. What I love is weather, mountains , beaches......
I should have clarified - I hate CHP. Meanest most hateful LEO’s in the country, when it comes to us.
