Stevens Transport

hey i Feel ya jjoystealth09. I'm a big boy myself(about 400 and 6'2). I have been looking at Stevens too. I was thinking of going back to my old com. But they have a new BMI thing now so that puts them off my list..

 

As long as our bp is better than DOT maximum you will be fine. If you BS is high they may think you are diabetic like me. It needs to be under 130. I suggest not eating breakfast. They will test a urine sample first and if they get a high reading off that they may test your blood directly, takes about 30 seconds. I am already under Dr. for both HBP and Diabetes, so I get called back to the yard every three months to have them checked. Since the truck needs to go back to be inspected every three months it should work out fine.

 

Does anyone know the age req's for Stevens?

 

As far as I know there are none, DOT regs say you must be 21 to drive interstate (crossing state lines). If you are under 21 Stevens will probably not hire you yet. I don't think there is an upper limit.

 

yea u guys have been a big help to me also, i was lookn at three diff schools and stevens looks to be the best, im leavn sept.5 from ohio to start there schooling in dallas, if anyone else is goin hit me up so we can get to know each other and wont have to be strangers while down there. ive been readin a lot of good things and bad things about em, its hard to believe what other ppl say somtimes but figured hell, just have to find out myself. thanks a lot fellas.

 

Hey guys, I will be starting at Stevens on the 7th of Sept. also. Just like you I see the good and bad of all of the companies out here. I have done my research and it seems that stevens is a good one. I think they all are what you make out of it. I am looking forward to the new career. Stay in touch.

yeo ill be there on the 7th as well .looking foward to the challenge..my dad and step dad are both 30 year + drivers and have been after me for years to do it...got laid off and a good job is scarce .i dont have a wife or kids..so i think truck driving would be a good choice

Well, it looks like I'll be one week ahead of you guys. I got the final approval today when I dropped by the office, so I start a week from today, the 31st. Hopefully everything will go well when I start.

By the way, for you guys that are getting ready to start, make sure you call to confirm you are coming the Friday before your Monday start date. This was impressed upon me this morning when I dropped off some paperwork at the office. I was told no matter who has told you what regarding your approval, everyone attending must still call on Friday to confirm.

 

Ya they been telln me to call once a week to make sure im still comn, next monday i have to schedule were to send my bus ticket to and all that stuff, im comn down on the 5th bc i have to do the studay part of the course to get my cdl permit, ive been studyn and all that good stuff. I was lookn at swift and completed there online course so i think im good on getn my permit wen i get down there. I think stevens will be a better choice than swift, i hope.
