Indeed they do. Georgia is similar but takes it a step further.
A permit is not required to possess a firearm in your home, vehicle or place of business. And concealment is not required, even in your vehicle.
This applies to people who are elgible for a carry permit, regardless if they have one or not.
Now someone who is not eligible for a permit may still transport a weapon in a vehicle providing certain restrictionsw are met.

I dunno about where you others are, but you couldn't find ammunition here in Ga. for a good while, and guns were going like hotcakes. We are freakin' READY down here, man!

It took me 8 weeks to get an online order of 1000 .45 cal. rounds from Ga Arms.

You can have a base ball bat in your truck, Just make sure you also have a glove and a ball. then it will not be consider a weapon but sports equipment! or they sell this great combo "trucker tool" little harder to find, it has an axe on one side and is a hammer and nail puller on the other. It is about 2ft long and has a good swinging weight behind it. also having a big dog to scare the guys off dont hurt either!:biggrin_25511::biggrin_2551:

I know that guns are a big no, on board a big rig, OTR. I am curious about a survival knife on board? A Machete could be useful. Just curious.

    Thanks.

    How about a Bow n arrow? :biggrin_255:

All this debate about IL law had me curious so I visited the ISP website and looked at the firearm FAQ and Illinois code regarding transportation of a firearm. If I read it correctly you can transport a firearm through the state as long as it is unload, in a case, and not readily accessible. Just for good measure and to debunk the "no you can't do that crowd", I also sent an email to the ISP asking to verify if I read the law and FAQ correctly. Once I have a response from the state police I will post it so there will be a definitive answer from the authorities in IL. I'm 99% certain I am correct in my interpretation....now we'll just wait and see what they say!:biggrin_255:

Last I heard any firearm in a Com.Truck was against the law!If it wasn't I would carry my .40,and I have a concealed weapons permit. But it is a BIG no no in a semi. But I do keep a BIG hunting knife with a 8 1/2 blade zip tied to the gear shift.I have been told that as long as it is attach to the truck you can get away with it because if any thing happens you can use it to cut the seat belt to get out of the truck.

God you people just do not get it do you! THERE IS NO LAW AGAINST CARRYING A GUN IN A CMV! Anyone who is a gun owner and is this IGNORANT probably shouldn't be a gun owner to start with! This whole debate has been answered so many times in this thread alone that I'm just freaking amazed it is still being brought up. :biggrin_25510:
