I have a 98 3406E with 5232 codes and a fuel temp harness and I have been very happy with it. It usually averages 5.5 to 6.1mpg but every since i added the harness and changed the codes it gets hotter quicker. Running down the road with a load it will get up to 200 degrees alot easier and more often than it had before. In the last year I have done a new fan clutch, radiator, charge air, condenser, water pump and thermostat. It seems that after I changed the codes it started running hot has anyone noticed this.

more fuel = more heat
-
spot on

Bigger power engines do heat up faster.
Lower temp thermostats may help a little, check the seals between your radiator and bonnet are in good conditon so it forces all the air entering the grill to go through the radiator instead of around it. A lot of guys out here modify their bonnets or cabs to help let the heat out better. -
Try using Cummins 175~180deg thermostats.

On my western star, i had to cut the 'skirts' out of the inner guards to let some hear vent out the wheel arches.
on the cluster#### that is the iveco, it needed the same, and part of the deck walk plate cut, due to the air cleaners and batteries blocking a large portion of the available space for airflow. -
running in hot temperate areas a lower thermostat really wont do much, if u have a fan switch or a fan overide try using that but still wont do much, as was said more fuel=more temp
-
I havent noticed that mine heats up any faster, (02 6nz running fuel wire, fuel cooler, 6999 codes, and a MI stage 5 turbo). Does your temp go up and stay? or Does it go up, fan comes on, temp comes back down?
-
More fuel= more heat was a simple answer, mine is getting a lot more fuel but making less heat BUT I have done the same as you.....Run a bigger turbo that = more air flow to keep the temps down.
IMO adding fuel you need to match the air flow

It cools down when the fan kicks on at a bit over 200, hasn't caused any problems I just noticed it recently. My exaust temp still barely hits 1000deg MAX. I usually am loaded over 80k sometimes over 90k. I hate it when I show up to load somewhere and the first words are "so how big is your trailer?"

My 98 did the same thing when i swapped injectors . I lost the 5232 and went back to stock SETTINGS had to do a software update also my fix was

# 281 F duralite aircharge cooler
pete upgrade fan # 393256-32
just for kicks
michigan turbo stage 5
1000 hp cam 201-2667
I'M RUNNIN 1543 on the dyno last check if i keep my foot out of it gets 6.5 mpg and never runs over 900 on pyro oh! also 5 core radiator thats on the motor computer dyno for all u skeptics yes i know i lose about 75 hp - 125 hp to the wheels OH WELL TRY AND PASS ME GOIN UP HILLS HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
