Anyone know if I could run regional out of Houston where I live? Trying to get home pretty often. I would be bringing my own truck. I talked to a driver yesterday that spoke very highly of the company and he sparked my intrest.

You running flats simplespeed? I know lots of freight used to come out the Houston area. At least when I was there. Now i’m not sure if they do an actual “regional”, but as an O/O you should be able to set it up like that.
I’ll tell you when I was with them I was out of Pa and they liked to try and keep me as far from home as possible. At least it seemed so... which makes sense since if a driver gets through the house he is likely to stop and stopping cuts productivity in a sense. Since I was a lease operator I would make it through the house when I needed. In almost 2 years I may have deadheaded a day’s drive home twice. This was for important situations that I made promises to people I’d be there. Gave ample warning, but of course got the load offers going other directions. Freight “just wasn’t headed toward the house” from dispatch. All while sitting at the truck stop next to a driver that was delivering a load down the street from home. tThat happens.
Guess what I am trying to say is you can take the load offers that get you home. As an O/O and hey if the decision to go home has to be made at least it won’t cost your job as it would for a company driver.
Overall I enjoyed my time with ATS until they put me in the 2019 babysitter truck and governed my speed to 65.
Simplespeed Thanks this. -
