Hey guys. I'm supposed to be leaving for school at Central Refrigerated on October 5th. But, i have a small problem... On my app I sent to my recruiter, I put my last 3 employers within the last 3 years that I've had. However, from January of this year to about March, I took up a second job in addition to the job that I'm currently at, which I've held for 2 1/2 years. I had to take up that second job for some personal reasons. It wasn't very long of employment, so I didn't put it on the application, since it wasn't really a primary job, and I never left the job that I've been working for 2 years. What do you guys think... Should I go ahead and let the recruiter know about that side job, or will everything check out ok if I don't..? I just want to make sure that everything checks out ok before I get in too deep and find out someone doesn't like something if they happen to pull my employment history and these sorts of things show up. Thanks!

I will advice you call the recruiter and let them know:biggrin_255:, because it will show in your work history, especially if you claim taxes on it, if it was done under the table in other word got paid n not report it , it won't show up. Hope this help

When you get to orientation they will most likely have you fill out another application. They want 10 years on file with the last 3 years verifiable. Go ahead & tell them about the other job... It ain't going to hurt you. But it could hurt if you purposely omit it...

I agree with them, as long as you have nothing to hide (good reccomendation), disclose it.. It can only hurt you later if they find out you didnt tell them about it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'd also like to know... Do the big trucking companies call only the jobs you have put on your application and only check up on those, or will they access the IRS database and/or order your employment history?

They will access you employment records. Anything that shows up that you didn't tell them about is faults application and grounds for termination. Start of right and tell them every thing up front.

Thank you Kabar. And thank you everyone that answered. I'll take care of it the right way before I leave for school. I would hate to get there and be sent home for something that I could of fixed and prevented. :biggrin_25519:

what "employment records" do you exactly mean? They call their buddy Joe down at the IRS office? Or Jim with the Social Security Office?

The only thing they have to go on is your DAC, if you haven't driven a truck, they have to go on your application.

While big brother may be watching you, trucking companies are not all mighty. They can't just find out with the push of a button what you have been doing work wise for the last 3 years.

I had figured that there was a way they could order a background check on an individual. I just ordered my annual free copy yesterday with all records, including criminal, drug tests, MVR, credit, and employment history. I figured if I could do it for free on myself, what could stop them, being a business, from obtaining that information on a prospective employee? lol. I know there's probably only so much they can check into, and I've never had a DAC. :biggrin_25520: I guess it's still better to take care of it and be safe, rather than get there and be sorry. :biggrin_25525:

Talking about Dac, I just got a copy of mine, and the only jobs it shows are Schneider, where I went to school, never actually drove for them, Landstar, and TLI. It only shows some of my employment, and it will not show employment that has nothing to do with driving.

Since you have not driven a truck yet, there will be nothing on there from any job. The employment record you can get from DAC/Usis are your Transportation employment history. If I can figure out how to make my scanner work, and also blank out my private info, I will post the first page of this.

Now, it may show a ticket you got, or any criminal things you may have done (and I am not implying that you have anything like that). They can, and will order a copy of your 20/20 which searches for criminal record on a county, State and Nationwide level. It searches if yo are on a sex offender list. Also, prior States you have lived in will be searched for info.

It took mine about 12 days to come back to me, and if you have any more specific questions, or any, if I can be of help, I will be glad to do what I can.
