    Good day All,

I have recently passed my CDL exam , bought my F550 with a 4 car trailer, passed the inspection and registered my US DOT #, to operate only within my state (Florida). I've been getting a lot of calls and people telling me i need to do this and that. I would like to know what is still needed. The last company (Foley) told me that i still need the drug and alcohol test and the Driver qualification files. these 2 would cost $450 is that the correct amount ? is there a way i can get it done cheaper ? your feedback on the matter is highly appreciated

I set both up myself. I contacted a qualified D&A consortium and paid the annual fee about $100. I seem to recall a simple google search located one close to my location. Must be DOT approved. I followed the instruction at FMCSA for the driver file and the advise from the DOT inspector when I had my review during the first 18 months as a new entrant. I didn't use any company to file stuff for me. I completed the process during a month/2 period prior to receiving the final approval in 7/2013. And I am not the brightest bulb in the box...LOL Tks

I remember when I got all of the same phone calls once my authority was active. it is better to do it yourself as mentioned before.

Ignore the phone calls and spam e-mail. You will literally get non-stop spam telling you that this and that is needed because they want you to pay them with an up-charge.

Bought 550 and 4 car trailer ...that was major mistake but i wish you best of luck , you gonna need it ... especially in Florida
Most of the stuff you can do yourself paying just filing fees. People just get advantages of you just stepping in water , trying to scare you ...every time you hear something you need - use Google and see if you can do it yourself .

@Max_Garcia Great question! I’m in the same boat. On the west coast but just received a letter from “Filing labor compliance department” from north Miami, FL stating my business “may” be required to post a current compliant labor law poster or face fines up to $7,000. I’m currently a one man show. Yay This is gonna be fun! Anyone have any insight on if this is something I’m goi g to need?

You can file/complete all the required items yourself. I just completed my UCR myself...easy pease. I completed the filing for Arkansas and some for my home state of PA. I did it all myself when I started in 2013. Directions are available for all of it or a call or two and you can get'er done yourself. Save the $ these companies, like Foley, want to charge just to file a form that you can do yourself. Tks
