I find it funny that all of you guys complaining about a living wage and minimum wage are also the same type that are pro massive amounts of immigration both legal and illegal. Not only does mass migration raise the cost of housing, but depresses the rise of wages. And before you go saying well they only take the lower jobs, which is bs btw. Consider that if lower jobs had to pay more, then jobs above would have to pay more, and jobs above those jobs would have to pay more. Yes, unemployment is low but that only includes those looking for jobs. Many Americans are fine living the life style of the government tit instead of having the dignity of a job. Which the left is all the more happy to have happen since they can control you and your vote with more free stuff.

 

Does Immigration Reduce Wages?

 

I find it hard to believe studies over common sense and what I see with my own two eyes. The fact that they mostly think that immigrants only work in the fields of farmers is enough for me to discount the entire thing.

If you post an ad and get 40 calls would you pay less or more then if you post an ad and get zero calls?

Wages like trucking is simply supply and demand. Less workers; equals more demand for them which equals higher wages to attract said workers. More supply of workers equals less demand for them resulting in lower wages. Have you ever had employees? If so which I doubt based off your views, how did you determine their wages?

 

Next thing you know will be this guy citing some "study" that shows open borders with no immigration enforcement is good for the economy! LOL

For every link, study, cut and paste article and quote from some guy back in 19th century this fellow posts, I could counter it with real life experiences and contrarian points of view.

Yes, OP. It is a little slow(er) for me. It is February after all.

 

Had a first for me today since becoming an O/O. I went to pick up a load at 5:30am this morning, and was informed when I arrived that it had been cancelled. No big deal, I got TONU, and I hopped on Convoy, Uber and DAT to find a replacement load. To my surprise, nothing was available paying more than around a buck per mile. Then I went to a truck search on DAT and saw that there are over 200 trucks available in northern CA right now. So I may just take the rest of the week off.

 

But is it slower than last february? February is always the slowest time of year.

 

Agreed all of my customers are holding off until April to see if it picks up.. Its been slow for everyone.

 

I am not pro massive immigration at all. Certainly not the way it is done in Western Euro. Even though, I am an immigrant myself. I lived here before some of you millennials were even spawned. I earned my land and place and will defend it. I am against all those ignorant people here saying that immigrants drive White Volvos wrapped with duck tapes, performing substandard maintenance and bringing the rates down.
while All American Mega Carries are bringing cheap labor from Africa on work visas to sit in their trucks. Start questioning why they do it.

Why can't people discuss even purly theoretical subjects without foam at their mouths?
