When I got to the same point you have about splicing wires to get power on my 99 N14. I changed the engine harness. That solved all the sensor issues, at the time. Now when a code comes on. I know it is a real sensor problem and not a frayed wire or bad connection.
It is a lot less stress driving.
Also I was told the shorting of power wires in the harness could have a negative result with the ECM.
    Hope you solved your problem.
    What was your solution?
