From BREAKING NEWS: Carriers notified of hacker data breach of TQL’s IT systems - FreightWaves Carriers were notified around 11 a.m. on Thursday that external hackers had breached Total Quality Logistics (TQL) IT systems and may have gained access to customers’ business information. According to an email sent out to carriers by Kerry Bryne, president of TQL, hackers may have gained access to carriers’ “tax ID number, bank account numbers and invoice information, including amounts and dates.”
They are not being 100% forthcoming. There was also attempted theft of ACH payments who's only mention is buried in their response. TQL | Carrier Hotline I have myself been seeing a significantly elevated volume of very sophisticated spearphishing emails come through lately.
TQL- The ACH payment theft attempts were stopped quickly. As of today, there have been less than 20 carriers identified where ACH payment theft may have occurred. They are being contacted and their account will be updated to reflect any unpaid invoices. We are asking all carriers to assume their bank account and tax ID information was at risk at some point and take additional steps as a precaution.
I have a sneaking suspicion this was done by a member of this site given the reviews I hear for this outfit. Lol
My bank recommended to close account and open new. Now have to throw away check book and update information with who knows how many brokers. So now I'm IT specialist and will charge TQL for my time. Oh didya know my hourly rate is $500?
That's gonna be difficult. I'm not planning to do that at this point but will be watching things closely.
This goes for both drivers and brokers. If brokers say no to cheap freight less drivers will feel pressured to take cheap freight.
