I only need 8 more years then I can retire... if I want.

I would rather go solo any day of the week. But if you are thinking about why you are working.. the bottom line is you are working for money, and you do the right things with your money, then it's not so bad at all.

Training wasn't that hard. I had a harder time when I got back to the yard to upgrade and I had to adjust back to a normal routine where I had to wake myself up and get ready and then drive places, etc.

Team driving on the road was easy because my trainer would wake me up and I would just roll into the driver's seat and start working.

Once you are on the road you don't have to worry about a fraction of the stuff you worry about doing a normal routine. Because if you are with a good partner he will set everything up for you. he will park a truck stop and then wake you up about an hour before you need to drive. You can walk into the truck stop, do your thing, get some food and drinks and then do your pre-trip. By the time you get back to the truck he is already in bed and it feels like it's just you.

You do have to sleep while the truck is moving though. When you are in your training, your trainer will already be aware that it's a common issue and should give you some slack.

Started out in Lancaster and made it to PALESTINE AR. Pulling empty with high cross winds. Made for a difficult drive. I knew I was leaning and I could see other trucks leaning as they came up to pass. Pulled off around 4 because it was getting too hairy for the trainer. I didn't disagree, I was ready to stop an hour before. Will head out around 4 a.m.

Not the 1st trip I had imagined. I was thinking a pleasant cruise. Oh well, one experience down, billions to go.

2nd week. BTW, my trainer is a great guy. Easy to get along with and he likes his truck clean. Spent Mon-Wed shuffling trailers between a warehouse and trailer lot. Got a lot of backing experience. Thurs we ran down and back to Laredo. Learned I'd rather drive daytime. Not that I can't run nites but I prefer days. Sunday we'll run to WV and back. I'll take the first 11.

End of week 3. About 1/2 of the electrics were out this morning. Discovered that as we were getting ready to run to Laredo. It's a 15 hr round trip. It was going to be a live load when we arrived. Who knows how long that would take. The week started with a run to WV Sun and back early Tues. Back to shuffling trailers Wed and Thurs. And now a 3 day weekend. Was looking forward to the trip. Having trouble backing the trailers to the docks still. Over correcting is my problem. I don't trust I'll not hit something if I don't crank the wheel. 3 more weeks to go.

I don't know about KLLM side. I do know FFE is opening up a terminal in Rocky Mount this year. The terminal manager's name is Rich. Right now the Atlanta, Ga terminal is handling the loads for there.
