Autonomous-truck developer bites the dust

...and its gone.

Whats really interesting is that I have no interest in driving a real tractor trailer from a office desk with bosses over my shoulder.

I can see it now going into tornado season, a big old twister takes out the local transformer and takes us all off line leaving 50 robot trucks at 70 mph and not under control anymore. Yea uh huh.

 

I talked to these people many times about a job. Their pay was fair, trucks were at 69 which is decent. But their home time just didn't work for me. They also didn't own any trucks they leased everything.

The twin ideas of getting trucks to run on batteries with no drivers at the wheel are the holy grail of trucking management. They hate both.
Lots of spilled ink in the MSM about these ideas. In trucking and in the automotive arena. Neither has any basis in reality, but the journalism majors that are cranking this stuff out keep on passing on press releases from these dreamers, the worst of them of course is Mr. Musk himself.

 

I agree. No employees are so loathed as truckers.
