Are you sleeping all right with the unit running, after all that time? LOL
Last time I pulled a reefer was 10 years ago. Paper logs were quite a help.

Other than that, so far so good with pick ups/deliveries, next load planning? I remember that you can't rule out possibility of sitting 4-8 hours at the docks. With these ELDs it could be impossible to plan another load the same day.

The hum of the reefer was like a long lost sweet noise. Lol. Of course they are much quieter now.

I haven't had much issue with planning loads and picking up and delivering. I've been hung up at one pick up for 3 hours and then the delivery kept me about 4hrs. Wasn't bad but wasn't that good either. Lol.

I don't have an issue with ELOGS because my wife is on the truck and she drives also. We do some team stuff when it's available and they want to pay for the service. Other times her "extra" hours come in handy. Lol. Really though, I haven't had any issue with running the loads by myself except the team runs.

Well, I flew down to Houston and got the truck. I didn’t make it far and had to be towed. Made it near Marshall, TX. Intake Nox sensor needs to be replaced. This guy says he can knock it out quick in the morning. It derated on me. Luckily the tow was only 50 miles total, 30 to get me and 20 to their shop. The salesman told me about the code when I came down there and had the shop he uses nearby fix it. It looks like they just cleaned it and cleared the code, didn’t replace it. He said send him a picture and he’ll help me out a little. Not sure exactly what he has in mind. Otherwise, it runs good. I spent a lot catching up all the other maintenance items. Even had a Diesel Force cleaning done.
This is the 2016 Freightliner, not my International.

Hey Misesian. I was reading the bit where you were discussing adding trucks to your operation.

I've just been listening to a discussion about the coronavirus and how this is pushing the world economy into a recession (and without getting alarmist that's the best case scenario.) I'm not sure expansion is a good idea. I'd be more inclined to control costs and build up a reserve, just in case. Just my 2c.

All signs in the trucking industry are showing just the exact opposite. Personal, meaning my opinion only, I'll trust the trucking experts over the media that likes to scare people.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not predicting catastrophe. But it is a period of greater uncertainty.

It is somewhat counter intuitive. Now, it is a good time to acquire equipment while the availability and prices are low (especially used). That's especially true, if you have good cash reserves and ongoing cash flow and ...last but not the least, faith in business cycles. So when the upward trend commences, you're ready.

Life is uncertain. That's part of being in business.

Trucking has and always will operate through cycles. The key is to continue living like it's a down cycle when it's booming. Then you're prepared for the down turn.

I’m getting back on track finally. I’ll have everything done so the driver can leave tomorrow and make his orientation with the carrier for Monday.
This Freightliner is a 6x2 as well, tag. What Freightliner has done is very interesting. I noticed it initiating a load transfer much more often. When I was pulling out of a dirt lot, a severely uneven driveway, and a few busted rail crossings. I’m sure you can get Etrac on a Freightliner, but this one does the load transfer functions via the AirLiner Plus suspension, a different model of AirLiner, their standard suspension. The suspension will transfer weight, regardless of the suspension load and speed, if it senses a wheel slip. It will not overload the powered axle though. That’s the one thing I don’t like about Etrac is that it’s ability to transfer weight is only at very low speeds. Learn something new everyday. I really like the Freightliner AirLiner Plus version.
