Flip flop dress code

You got that right. I always laugh at these threads , you have grown men judging and gawking at another mans footwear. Kinda suspect if you ask me .

 

I'm on the side of.. If a company allows you to run around in flip flops in a warehouse that requires steel toed boots, etc etc...don't come to me for help if your toes get crushed. Driving down the road I don't care what you put on your feet.

Your a grown adult. Not my job to dress you. If your company an clients are ok with you dressed that way...then go for it. They sign your check, not me.

It's not specifically truck driving, it's societal and every generation goes through it.
When you were a teen, weren't your parents complaining the current style? Theirs was different. Your grandparents did the same when your parents were teens, and so on and so on. Every decade has it's different style trends that the young embrace and promote and the old look down on.

 

My dad always wears black socks. I always wear white. My new job requires black socks only. My kids think I'm old because everyone wears those ankle socks now. I tried them, can't handle it. I feel naked with foot condoms on. It's all choice I guess.

I admit that flip flops look bad on a warehouse floor. They look worse with socks. Should not drive with them. I'd be more comfortable driving barefooted. I'm not sure how legal that would be.
Flip flops are good for anything else. Except arse kicking maybe.
I will wear flip flops always when onto a beach or swimming pool. OR Summertime.
I won't wear them to the Church or someone's party. But generally, flip flops are footware to feel comfortable. I personally prefer sandals made of genuine leather.

 

I have yet to see anyone wearing flip flops with an open deck. Vans, a few times at truck stops. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

 

Watched a driver go nuts when he was told he could not come into the chemical plant wearing flip flops, shorts and a tank top!
Just because this is Florida doesn’t mean you can dress like a tourist everywhere you go.

That's true. When I drove tanker for PIE we had a dress code. No captain's hats or neckties but we were required to wear a shirt with a collar, clean pants, and work boots. If you came to work looking like a rag bag you'd be sent home to change.
The drivers today reflect the attitude of their company toward appearance and demeanor. There's a definite message there.
In an earlier post I said that I didn't care what our drivers wear when they're working. Luckily we have mostly old timers who know how to dress for the job at hand. We do a lot of off road work and sandals and shorts just don't make it.
