Read the code. All you can do.

do u know if a standard issue obd II code reader will pull the codes or do rigs have a different setup than a car?
-
Completely different setup.

What RPM's are you running when this occurs?
Detroit 60 should be good if you hold the RPM's at about 15-17...drop gears if necessary...speed isn't the issue you should be watching, maintaining an optimum performance with the engine.. -
My first guess was exhaust temp getting a little high and causing the check light issue, since this was when pulling a hill and then it goes away when you let up. Like otherhalftw stated, RPM's can have a big effect on what those exhaust temps are rising to.
MNdriver and otherhalftw Thank this. -
thanks for the info

My 07 does the same thing and when I back out of it or do something to reduce the exhaust temp it goes out.
I will get the same thing if I let the RPM go too high for too long on a downgrade as well. -
freightliner Columbia 2006 60s 14L
I have the same problem no codes on the dash but check engine light comes on when accelerating goes off whe I release de throttle and also comes when I turn on the jakes and light goes off immediately after turning them off, note! I have good power, fuel mileage has not drop! Everything seems to work fine except for the check engine light, any comments? By the way light will come on regardless of rpms. Thx for any ideas!
