Hi I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on this problem. When I'm changing into high range from low range the trans doesn't switch right away almost like something is stuck or slow to move, I already replaced the slave valve with no luck. The trans will eventually pop into high range but sometimes it takes a while i.e. going from low to high I'll go to grab next gear and its in neutral, no grinding. Pull it back out of gear into neutral and it will pop into high range. It goes into low range with no problem at all. I'm thinking about replacing the range piston on the back of the trans next. I pulled the filter on the range valve and it was spotless so not sure on what to check next. Any help would be greatly appreciated

You should be able to get a o ring kit to rebuild the range cylinder/piston. If you can hear fluid gurgling in the lines this is the likely cause and can make slow shifts as well so pull the line to the shift valve knob to be sure it is clear. Otherwise its hook up gauges and check air pressures on the shift. Eaton troubleshooting is free download from the website if your digging in yourself. It's good that it doesn't grind so git er fixed before it does.
Dino soar, FdEF and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
It sound you have transmission oil trapped between the High-Range-Low range piston then the piston it slow down to travel, o ring kit like gentlemen above suggested will probably solve your problem.

Grinding means it's to late abd synchros need to be replaced? -
Not necessarily. Depends on how long you let it clash and how many times. I have fixed many with air troubles that turn out just fine.spsauerland Thanks this.

Check the air pressure at one of the shift cylinder lines. It should be 60 to 65 PSI.

Hello all. How do I replace the seals/o-rings on the range piston on an eaton fuller 10 speed transmission? Do I have to take off the top cover of the transmission or is it in the rear of the transmission? Thanks in advance.
