Hello,
I'm not finding much about my issue. But from what I could find is that I may be to late and my synchros are bad. I'm getting grinding Everytime I move my selector switch from down to up. It doesn't do it going down. I ordered a rebuild kit for the air valve on the transmission but I have a feeling that's not the problem.
I'm looking for some confirmation on worn out synchros. Help would be appreciated.

Also, I'm dealing with an Eaton 18speed.

Most likely worn out synchro. The synchro is a wearable part. If its worn out, it won't get the gear speeds synchronized in time before the dog teeth try to mesh, so they grind a bit.
Bean Jr. and HopperHauler Thank this. -
My 13 did the same thing, it was the synchronizer. I pulled the rear unit off and took it to a transmission shop, he had a new synchro kit put in in about an hour and a half.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Wouldn't be a bad time to re-seal the range and splitter pistons while you have the aux section out either. Could also consider a re-bearing of the aux countershafts and output shaft if they look questionable.
HopperHauler Thanks this. -
My Eaton 10 speed started doing that occasionally going from hi to lo and quit doing it on it's own.

Thanks for the input. I'll let the customer know. I'm a mobile service and I'm not about to tear into the trany in windy Wyoming. Lol
