Those hot shots have got to be regulated better. Or just make 'em stay in their home state! I watched one get blown clear off the road in WY a few years back.

A contractor buddy of mine got pulled by the MTO many years ago.
He had a loaded 7,000 lbs cargo trailer that uses 3,500 lbs each axle with electric brakes.
The mto fined him for not having working brakes, reduced the axle’s load rating down to 500 lbs or 1,000 lbs each with no brakes instead of 3,500 lbs each with brakes.
So he was overloaded and fined for that as well.
Trailer was towed but he was allowed to drive away with many tickets in his hands.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
From another hot shot operator, they are being inspected quite often.

I think his friend said "hey can you run these 2 chevy cruze over to Houston real quick, I'll pay you" and he figured why not. He borrowed the trailer from his bro-in-law, loaded up and rolled. Problem was the cars he picked up have .gov plates on them and I think some auction writing on the windows. Dead giveaway to DOT.
Maybe the DOT cop thought the guy was trying to skirt the law and thats why he ticketed the hell out of him. -
The whole kit and kabootle was stolen, btw, how did you get a copy of the ticket?
Shawn2130 Thanks this. -
Definitely not stolen as the guy sat around there, talked to my mechanic friend who came by and gave him a price to fix his trailer brakes.
Besides, no one steals 2 Chevy Cruzes. Also the ticket has the auction companies listed in the citation for no operating authority.201 Thanks this. -
If he really had a CDL A he should've known better. Tickets deserved, IMO.
Dave1837, Lonesome and Deere hunter Thank this.
