I get it from the "Betel Nut Girls" in China.
Are the leaves as good as the nut?

The Mass 10 Truck Stop and its bighearted owner Gene Murphy were known by many truckers of the ‘60s and ‘70s who ran in New England. Read MoreAM14 Thanks this. -

From what I can find, China, The heart of the leaves of the betel palm are eaten like a salad in some parts but no reference to any psychotropic effects are given. I would have to ask my mentor if he knows. Certainly the nut itself as you know is chewed for the effect and in some parts combined with powdered lime (the mineral), but that practice comes with a warning that it will stain the teeth red and likely rot them out if practiced at length.
what is meant by "heart of the leaves" is a mystery to me. I've not yet even seen the nut itself lol. (still fledgling in my studies).
AM14 - I'm in Ashfield MA now, lived a while in Belchertown and before that took care of my elderly parents in Framingham (where i was born and raised) and before that lived 18 years in Europe (Belgium and a short while in France).
As for Wadhams i did apply to that job a while back, but the TM in Granby kinda dissuaded me by saying that while he was open to training me, there were quite a number of small New England Farms especially in Vermont where you have to back the tanker down dirt roads sometimes 1/4-1/2 mile and even his seasoned drivers didn't like doing that in winter. So he kicked my application back to the parent company and I've been talking with them about getting on with their truckload van division RIST which is out of Albany NY for NE regional work.
The offer seems to be Monday through Friday (weekends off) anywhere from Maine down to Delaware/Maryland and out as far as Ohio/Penn. Avg weekly is 2500 miles. Driver trainees start at .43cpm bumped to .48 after 6 mos and .54cpm after 1 year. $17.50 pre/post trip to start up to $18.50 after 6 mos and topping at $20 after 1 year.
Sounds like a really decent start actually even if its van (50% d/h 50% dock to dock). -
oh and BR, where do I see this conversation you started? nothing is shown in my profile page.

NVM found it...

Thanks Powder, but that'll be 2 years from whenever I start lol. Good to know though.
Would like to ultimately get into either tanking or even car carrying since they both seem to fetch top yearly salaries. But as Richard Dreyfus said to Bill Murray "Baby steps bob, baby steps".
