I just started training 2 weeks ago. I'm amazed at how much information there is to learn. So at 43 years old I'm starting a new chapter in my life. I have always wanted to drive and now I can. The kids are older now both in middle school. My soon to be wife worked for Panther Ind for 10 years booking loads and scheduling drivers & invoicing. Are main goal it to become a O/O. One thing we are not going to do is jump in cowboy style. I should start my driving portion & pre trip next week. Wish me luck. I have read a lot on this site as a lurker. So I decided to join.
Just started training

Best of luck to you.
I agree, there's a lot to learn. You'll still be feeling that way after you've driven 50K miles. It's the best job you've ever loved to hate, and hated to love.
PS: I got my CDL at age 55.Last edited: Mar 4, 2020

Thanks everyone. It's going to be a change. The family and I have had many conversations about it. I will look up garner for sure. I don't want to eat at truck stops so what are some of the things you guys eat to stay healthy?

Hubby and I made the transition at 55 a year ago. Still having the time of our lives!
We have a little fridge and eat sandwiches and we snack a lot while driving. The choosing is the important part. -

I have a fridge that came with my truck and a 1.7 fridge that I use for a freezer. I cook homemade meals on my home time and use my food saver to seal them and then freeze into 1 meal. Food last for 6 weeks.
Some examples are: pot roast, chicken, Turkey burgers, carne frita, meat loaf, meatballs, gyro meat, polish sausage, taco meat, fajitas, steak, pork chops.
In my fridge I have fresh fruit, eggs, sandwich meat, cheese, trop 50 OJ, water, milk.
To cook I have a hot logic, microwave, a hard boiled egg maker, the small George Foreman grill and a small electric Skillet (grill & skillet for eggs, pork chops, and steak)Attached Files:
