Ok. I won’t fight, I will explain my skepticism. 500 or 1500 hp it doesn’t matter.
1. 9 direct or 9 over?
2. What rears?
3. One and two doesn’t matter there is no combination of the two that will get you to 116 in a 1/4 mile in a semi truck.
4. How do you know you got to 116 and eventually 125? There is/was never an odometer in a truck that would register that high. Most stop at 85HopperHauler Thanks this. -
I think it’s more likely a 4 cylinder mustang II and you did 25 in a quarter mile

One more thing 116 in a quarter mile.
Would be like what 15 seconds?Last edited: Mar 6, 2020

If it's a car that's dialled in, 116 mph is in the 11's.
My 63 Dodge went 106 at 12.3 in the 1/4.
A second thought for the OP, why does it have to be a manual trans, why not an Allison auto?
A 6 spd Allison is a heavy duty auto that can take gobs of power and will launch a lot smoother than a manual trans, not as hard on the rest of the driveline because of the torque converter.
It will shift the same every time and all the time with less chance of missing a gear, blowing a clutch, breaking the driveline or the engine running away under full throttle.
I'm assuming this unknown engine will be spun a lot higher than 2000 rpm.
I know that the old mechanical Cummins was good to 2600 rpm because the valves would float at 2700 and the 2 stroke DD's would spin higher.
Tyrone Malone built some drag trucks, they all had Allison autos in them.
If you want to shift gears turn it into a manual valve body so you have to shift every gear.Last edited: Mar 6, 2020
x1Heavy and Soap stone Thank this. -
If you had a turned around 9 speed, you could shave a couple seconds offSnow Monster Thanks this.

If I had a turned around 9 spd it would be on a chain and attached to a boat.Soap stone Thanks this.

The first idea I had with this project was to use a manual, it's not set in stone that it'll be a manual. I'll have to take a look at an Allison, would I be looking at a 2000 or a 3000 series though?

Just for the cool factor, I wonder if you could get a Lenco (sp?) that would work....
