I work on a fleet of them (daycab SD's). Good trucks if treated right (even in short haul high idle driving). I've seen them with 500k, only needed standard maintenance, and still going strong!! I've also wanted to condemn a few at 200k.

I would make sure to ask to see the maintenance files. And watch the oil pressure gauge under cold start up. It should jump to the max and stay. If it jumps around then the engine oil suction is pulling air in. Which means the lower suction housing needs new O-rings, which means it has had worked warm (or hard), and finally, it's closer to a rebuild than it should be because of the air that's been pushed through it with the engine oil.

If the engine checks out, and you keep the maintenance up, you'll be more than happy with it!

I like the Coronados, myself. A definate upgrade to the Classics. Not very familiar with D15. I read something about oil pump problem, @mhyn, has some good first hand knowledge on it.

On second thought, it may have been an air compressor gear problem. Whatever it was involved metal shavings, and a Dealer Bulletin. Not sure if problems been corrected. Sorry I don’t have more info, can’t find the thread.

Pretty much sounds like the same setup I have in my 2012 Cascadia. Except mine only have 2 100 gallon tanks, and a 13 speed

Test drive the truck, when coming to a stop a check engine light comes on then goes away, its a good indicator the o rings are bad.
