Swift has a very high turnover rate but so do all the mega companies. First they should pay more not just the rate per mile but the pay for down time example layover/breakdown pay. Swift makes billions annually and layover/breakdown pay should be more. Also give drivers better options in regards to how often they get to go home, weekly vs being on the road for a month at a time. Make sure to get drivers home on time as well which I haven’t been home on time a couple times.
If there are areas drivers don’t like don’t strongarm them into going there or penalize them for refusing to go there the northeast sucks, give driver preferred routes. Also quit controlling where drivers can and can’t buy fuel. Get rid of idle shut off which most of the trucks have.Offer more paid vacation a week after 1 year 2 weeks after 2 years. Currently drivers don’t get 2 weeks paid vacation till after 10 years. All swift wants is a body in the seat of their truck moving freight 24/7/365.

Swift ain't gonna change, like you said they're making billions and doing just fine. Maybe it's time for you to make a change, I've never had to look more than 1 day to find a new truck driving job. Theres a company out there that would love to have you, I'm sure of it, and theyll give you most of what you're asking for.

Swift is now Knight-Swift, having been bought by Knight Transportation a few years ago. Attend one of their orientations and they will tell you how debt free they(Knight) are and because of that they were able to buy out Swift, who was laden with debt. It's not going to get any better as long as there is a steady flow of people who are willing to try out driving for a living out.

It's not a pleasant thought, but drivers are very easily replaced. They pay just enough to keep some people in the seat, but in reality, with the price of things on the road, it's not even really profitable. It's subsistence living at best. You will never support a house, car and family if you're the only paycheck in the household.

But this is just isn't the case for trucking, it's the case for most jobs now. Thank the greedy corporate types who sent everything they could to China to satisfy the shareholders just a bit more at your expense.

    Swift doesn’t make billions,
Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings Inc. (KNX) reported fourth-quarter profit of $67.4 million.

The trucking company posted revenue of $1.2 billion in the period, down 11.2% year over year, which missed Street forecasts.
That’s a horrific return on revenue.

Maybe they wouldnt send it all over seas if thier own government would quit kicking them in the balls with a new tax, fee, penalty, or regulation every time they make a few more dollars.

So basically get rid of dispatchers. Sounds good.

How about: thank the shareholders? That's where the problem really lies. If the execs weren't under pressure from the shareholders, etc,etc...

This is hilarious. Corporate taxes are ridiculously low in USA, contrary to what Sean says.
